GREENBLATT:

What I really want is, whether it's social media influencers on Twitch and YouTube like Hasan Piker, or other kind of promoters of hate on YouTube and Tik Tok like Guy Christensen, or like you know these speakers at these graduations it just happened the other day at MIT, spreading blood libels about the Jewish people or the Jewish state.

It creates the conditions in which this kind of act is happening with increasing frequency. We've got to stop it once and for all. I hope the Trump administration will do just that.

Jonathan conflates Judaism with Zionism, "Jewish people or the Jewish state". He is lying when he says that anti-Zionists are attributing the actions of Israel with Judaism. Jonathan Greenblatt is doing the thing that he accuses others of doing.

They are hoping to push someone who would believe them to murder him aren't they?

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 59 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Roundabout way to describe a cop but yeah, likely, either have him arrested or killed and have a justification ready.

It's only stochastic terrorism when brown people do it.

Yeah but it's pretty funny to imagine a world where e-clowns actually are antisemitic puppeteers with power to affect all their innocent targets around the world.

No I think you're the one creating the conditions by murdering the children we see the mangled bodies of every day. Stop doing that and all of this shit would stop.

[–] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 41 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I can't wait for this standard to be applied to conservative streamers and content creators, who have been doing this behind the thinest, most frayed of veils for years. Huh? Oh?! Oh they won't do that? Somehow, I am not surprised.

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 56 points 3 days ago

The Christchurch mosque-shooter litterally had an entire meme-filled manifesto with pages upon pages of 4chan shit, along with actual Great Replacement antisemitism, and shouted "Subscribe to Pewdiepie" before he murdered 70 people, but sure, Hassan Piker is the main cause of terrorism.

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 47 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Surely Hasan has to be seriously thinking about getting the fuck out of the US

[–] BilduEnjoyer@hexbear.net 32 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I’ve been watching Hasan a lot lately since I moved to Europe. I like watching the Turkish man yell at hogs while he feeds me news highlights.

Hasan has said, repeatedly, on his streams that he doesn’t want to leave because “can’t tell me what to do, I’m stubborn, this is my home etc etc”. This may be a bit parasocial but the guy comes across to me as someone who hates changing his routine to the point where he’s putting himself in harms way.

It was really interesting watching his interview last night with Chris Hedges, because Chris straight up told him, “You know, they’re preparing to try and have you killed. It’s blood libel because they want your blood.” This is coming from a well seasoned investigative reporter who has lost a lot of journalist friends, if Hedges is saying Hasan should protect himself then I hope that Hasan listens.

Amazing interview BTW. There were several moments where Hedges sat Hasan down and laid out the ugly truth for him regarding Gaza and Hasan looked a bit shaken up. I think Hedges at one point said, “The reason the media is relaxing is because it’s too late, unless the famine is broken within the next few weeks- hundreds of thousands will die from starvation. Unless something radical happens soon- it’s inevitable. I have seen this before.”

I’m really hoping Hasan stops being stubborn and gets the fuck out of the US because he’s not only putting himself, but his entire family, at risk. While he’s not perfect I’d much rather him continue his work as a leftist entry point and propagandist than become a martyr.

Certainly, but one has to ask where in the world is safer from the reach of these people? Turkey doesn't strike me as the best place to, uh, evade US custody.

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

That's the real trick.

Within the vague anglo-sphere maybe New Zealand might be pretty safe? All those billionaires build bunkers there and it seems pretty restive on the whole from what I hear though maybe we just don't hear about problems like that there. I don't know they seem like they're allowed to be the edge of empire and have different rules with their whole decades-long "no nuclear ships docking here" rule. Most of EU seems out though there are definitely parts of that safer than others but not without still significant risk especially if we're talking inspired zionist terrorists.

It comes down to risk I guess. If the zionist intelligence want to literally murder him and aren't above doing it themselves then about the only semi-safe places would be like Iran, China, DPRK at which point he wouldn't be allowed to continue his show they'd just accuse him of being an asset and cut him off as a propagandist and he'd effectively be in hiding with career over. But assuming they don't want to do that, even moving to NZ or even Canada might be enough but it would be a likely one-way thing as if he leaves and tries to come back even to do streamer news coverage he'd stand a very high risk of being sent to CECOT or otherwise disappeared.

But I suppose a large part of the problem they have with him is that he goes in person to protests and encampments and broadcasts stuff they have totally censored from the news. If he moves abroad he is ceding that ability to them which would take the heat down a bit just off that fact unless he has the money and interest to hire a stringer to go to these places in his place to conduct interviews and coverage.

[–] BilduEnjoyer@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

He said himself that he can’t go back to Turkey for political reasons.

Maybe Shanghai? Moscow doesn't feel like a good choice given that Russia is currently at war. Also, as I understand, Shanghai has a big social media influencer industry.

The Chris Hedges interview is in my queue, I need to watch it now. Because Chris is right.

I don't understand the narrative that fleeing the US is the correct thing to do. Is it not more brave to stay your home country in rise of fascism? Shouldn't you stay to oppose the rise of fascism?

I don't blame people who want to leave out of fear of their own safety, but it seems more brave to stay.

spoilerI edited this comment from saying "cowardly to leave" to "brave to stay". People seem upset by the word coward. I want the comment to express the sentiment that I feel it is brave to stay in your country of citizenship despite worsening conditions, to provide support and solidarity with people that don't have the ability to leave. Do whatever you want.

Lenin left. Castro left.

What's he going to do? Fund a anti-fascist militant labour group? He's shown no interest in doing so, so I don't see him actually fighting the fascists in the streets. At best he'd be a good propaganda tool and that's it, because that's what he's good at right now. He's too comfortable doing what he's doing, so I don't see him fleeing.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

As you mention, he is a good propaganda tool. He also gave material support to the anti-Israel student encampments at UCLA and interviewed students from the encampment. He gives a media platform to many anti-Zionist voices that the mainstream media refuses to hear. Later today, Hasan is interviewing a surgeon who worked in Gaza. Like 2 weeks ago, he helped raise a large amount of funding for Drop Site News which directly interviews the leaders of Hamas to give Hamas leadership a voice in mainstream media.

You recognize that he's a good propaganda tool, so let him be that. Everyone always asks "Why doesn't X person do more?". Those same people never ask "Why don't I do more?". If you want there to be an anti-fascist labor group, why isn't that a goal that you are working towards?

he can still fund it outside the U.S.

He still believes he can change the democratic party from the inside. Also he is fully ingrained into the LA influencer/media landscape.

Repeating my point that Hasan needs to seriously think about security and have an escape plan to gtfo the US before it's too late.
