Casual Conversation

406 readers
157 users here now

Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.

RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Yay!

Thank you so much for the work involved.

I don't always chime in a lot, but this is one of my favorite communities to scroll through and enjoy comments. It always feels casual and comfortable.

Thanks for all your work mods! This is one of my top communities I really like it here

It is such a great community :)

I was thinking about pinging people who are usual posters in the community, but I guess I'll wait a few days, the announcement and locking the other community was probably enough for a start.

Didn't people really hate that last time? lol

Thanks. You might want to remove lemm.ee references from the sidebar.

Good point, I'll get to that later, it's not that urgent.

Could you explain what migration means in this context? What did you migrate from a technical point of view? I still had to subscribe to it manually, so it looks to me just like a new community?

[–] Blaze@piefed.social 4 points 23 hours ago

Here you go:https://piefed.social/post/667045

You still have to subscribe manually to !casualconversation@piefed.social. I did it for most of the insances: https://piefed.social/post/846330

In your case please look for https://lemm.ee/post/66060114 in your instance search bar, it should show up the community

The content from the old community got pulled over into this new one on Piefed. Unfortunately, those old posts don't seem to backfill, so it looks empty when you're subscribing to it. If you go to this community on its home instance, it looks like all of the old posts are there (didn't check comments, though)

Not sure if those old/migrated posts will fill in over time or not. I should try manually pulling one in via federation to check.

Hello everyone. How does this community work?

[–] Blaze@piefed.social 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Hello,

Not sure what you mean, it seems like you're here now. Do you have any specific question?

[–] Outwit1294 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I am new to this community. It is called casual conversation, so how do we casually converse? Where? Is it in posts or DMs?

[–] Bags@piefed.social 5 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Just posts/comments. It's a place for lighthearted, general conversation, and a place to be friendly.

I'm also pretty new, but I understood it as basically just like random ice-breakers or questions or conversations you'd have with some stranger you just met at the bar.

The sidebar has some simple rules to follow.

Pretty much this, thanks!
