Are women more emotional than men? Maybe. Maybe not. But I've never heard anyone accuse Hillary Clinton of being too emotional.

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I think they got pissy when she laughed

As a man with BAD, I'm more emotional and more aware of controlling emotion than most women I meet.

More aware doesn't mean more capable though =(

I don't know.... if only we have something like hard data from things like investing that could prove that women are better and making long-term decision and are less likely to make a rush decisions based on short-lived noise. You write like it's something we know from at least from early 2000s. It's not like it's a strong and growing consensus now, right?

There's an inversion, men want women to be emotional (most like them that way more), so they invent ideas as to why women are emotional.

Hate this meme. Just more division.

Stop using the worst of populations to represent them.

What are you interpreting from this meme? That men aren't fit to lead because they are generally emotionally unstable? Because I don't think that's what this is suggesting at all.

Just that the same argument against women being too emotional is bullshit because we've got two men in powerful leadership positions acting like emotion-driven children.

Thank you, these 5 yr olds are not representative of the adult population

And then they both stopped cause they realized how much dirt/control one has on the other.

When men behave erratically it’s because they are playing two dimensional chess, and when it backfires it’s someone else’s fault.

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

I think the better statement would be both are emotional, which is simply part of being human.

The difference is women are taught very early to regulate and cope.

Ofc none of this is 100%, nothing involving people is 100%, but emotional regulation, coping, and patience within your emotions is something women have more practice with.

I’m not saying no woman ever has bankrupted the family savings to buy a positive emotion inciting vehicle, but the numbers there would be…less.

Practice matters.

Speaking from experience. Women are more emotional. <<< millennials and younger can stop reading here and downvote

Just scientifically going off how hormones fluctuate both in their monthly cycle and throughout their lives and turning perimenopausal to completely menopauze, is no walk in the park.

Most men would not handle that very well. I my experience with women in positions of power, they are just way more aware and can self regulate a lot better just because of this.

Are they though, or are they experiencing different emotions which we somehow define as a hindrance to politics or CEO life? Because some monkey brain alpha dude president is surely feeling rage, greed and hate, and that doesn't make him a good president or CEO or whatever position in power. Compassion would be a good addition in this portfolio.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not to mention... the whole "they're regulating it better" thing. Yeah. emotional regulation leads you to being... less influenced by emotion.. that is to say... "less emotional".

More importantly, the difference is pretty fucking marginal. Like you can find examples of both genders (and not to mention plenty between) who are cold as freaking ice. there's also plenty of the opposite, too. Most of us fall somewhere near the middle.

Suffice it to say the range as a species is much larger than the distinction between genders.

I just watched a woman in emergency management give a class in a room with busted A/C while she was experiencing a menopause hot flash that had her hair soaked with sweat.

Sick to death of arguments that because women have feelings, they can't be as or more capable. She might have sweat on every surface of her body, but that woman has ice in her veins.

That should be a qualifier rather than a disqualifier. Who gives a shit if someone feels more feels than someone else? How they act is what matters. For instance, when my wife was breast feeding, the let down would fill her with overwhelming feelings of rage. Yet I never once saw her snap at anyone because of it, which to me showed a tremendous amount of restraint. Way more restraint than two grown ass men having a teenage girl level social media slap fight.

I think this depends on how you define "more emotional". Is expressing more aspects of emotion "more emotional" than the constantly pissed off dad screaming at the umpire at a little league game?

Imo women are better at expressing their emotions and communicating them to others, but men are just as emotional.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just a heads up asshole, I'm a millennial and I'm 41.

Joking aside my wife is already experiencing symptoms of perimenopause.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

All sarcasm aside, you’re showing symptoms too my man, it’ll be a nice test of your love for both of you.

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

Men are more emotional if you factor in all the feelings they've buried under the surface because they don't want to express them. Just less like a river and more like a geyser.
