There are a shitload of conservatives on Twitter being like “WTF TRUMP” right now. It’s crazy to see because Twitter is like the fourth reich right now.

They've been told for years that all of the Democrats and any other enemy of the right are in the client list for years, their brains can't handle this cognitive dissonance.

They'll find a way to resolve it neatly by the end of the week.

I’ve already seen “trump is secretly handling it” and “if he releases it millions of people will die” and other cope garbage

It's neat how qanon doesn't exist anymore and yet qanon is the backbone of American conservatives now

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 16 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Why would it have to exist after the takeover?

I had predicted years ago that qanon would mutate into a new evangelical wing of conservatives, not simply become the floor of all conservative rhetoric. Color me surprised I guess lol

I'd like to see ol' Donny wriggle his way out of THIS jam!

That's it! Drumf is finished!

I guess this is the end of her rap career

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 24 points 4 weeks ago

it's kind of funny that even her addled brain can pick up on how awkward trump's comments about epstein were today

Man, people were so pissed off when she did that.

People seemed starved for rage bait back then. Something trivial would happen, like Sinéad O'Connor would tear up a photo of the Pope, and comedy shows would comment on it for months.

CW: workplace violence

SNL literally brought on Joe Pesci next episode to do the Tony Soprano, "Now you gotta remembah ima strict catholic. But if I wasn't and I was hosting that night...bada bing bada boom." and the entire time he's punching his balled fist into an open palm talking about how much he hates Sinead O'connor for disrespectin' tha pope anti-italian-discrimination

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

Ya I am old enough to remember. It was very bad. Considering how all the stuff about the Church and abuse that came out years later, Sinead O'Connor was far ahead of her time. The West owes her a massive apology.

Didn't he tape the picture back together?

It also makes me giggle that RATM was on SNL and people whined about something as inane as an upside down American flag, the same week they had megaghoul Steve Forbes on as a guest.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

Comedians rode every joke into the ground. I had no idea who Tammy Faye Baker was at the time, but I had seen a dozen caricatures. Jay Leno was making Monica Lewinsky blowjob jokes for years after everyone stopped caring.

Yeah they really were, weren't they? Nothing like having someone make light of the pagentry and bullshit surrounding your favorite pass time to really piss you off, I guess.

It was a "disrespecting the flag" thing for many, IIRC, added on to the intersection of fatphobia and misogyny. People were itching for excuses to hate Roseanne while keeping the moral high ground (her politics weren't generally known yet, so there was no partisan angle to it).
