This developers kind of dumb. Especially their reasoning for not supporting Android when it's completely possible to develop applications that do not utilize Google notifications. I'd be wary of this app and while it's probably better than nothing there are better alternatives.

I was using one the other day that I really like that was web-based that sent notifications to your phone via the browser push. Let me see if I can go find that.

Edit:

This is what I would use https://stopice.net/

Is the idea that it's a honeypot still being tossed around?

Yep. Closed source and unreviewable.

Oooh, gross. Any other reasons it's fishy? Literally all I've learned about it is from the articles that get posted about why it isn't on Android, and from the comments on those articles. I don't use iOS, but it's still a fascinating story.

Not that I'm aware of but the extreme lack of knowledge regarding Android privacy is enough to set off alarm bills in my head that this is not an application I want to be using. Along with the fact the app is closed source in the developer doesn't want to open source it it makes me just highly suspicious. Gives me the feeling the developers not in this for the right reasons.

Especially when you considering that on iOS to download applications you have to sign into an Apple account so it's tracked that way.

There's no such need to do such a thing on an Android phone so personally I just would not recommend this app. I think the web based Alternatives respect privacy better and have the same functionality.

ICEBlock being closed sourced (and baffling only on iOS for some reason) is DOA for what it's designed to do. This looks much better.
