Careful, I plugged an unknown USB drive into my house and then all my centrifuges tore themselves apart.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Wait, have you been living under a rock all that time?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Why do you have centrifuges in your house?

[–] Fuck_u_spez_@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You mean you don't have a uranium enrichment plant in your basement?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why are you talking about plants when I'm asking about centrifuges?

Guys there's someone calling himself Hans Blix at the door, did anyone order takeaway?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Is he the bad guy from Die Hard?

Not for nuclear reasons if any regulatory agencies are asking.

Just know that after installing linux on your house, it won't have Windows anymore!

[–] WhyJiffie@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

drink some Wine and there will be your Windows

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

It will be more secure and easier to maintain that way. No more broken Windows!

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago

Just put the Windows in a VM, duh! /j

what's sick is that this could actually work in some mad scheme where the wall wart is range extenders and acting as network attached storage

Extreme self hosting

[–] qt0x40490FDB@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or, the wall wart could be a network adaptor for an ethernet over power system, and the packets could be running though the power lines…. But almost certainly not that.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

EOP would use RJ45 Ethernet jacks though, so you couldn’t plug a USB stick in there and expect to communicate with it right?

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

It would if you installed it, but in theory you can get creative with the wiring.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Even better: powerline adapters.

[–] isar@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 week ago

Home assistant entered the chat.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gotta hold the doorbell while you flip the circuit breakers to enter the boot menu

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago

Depends on who built the house, and even what model. I always have to search to find the right buttons.

In my house I have to flush the toilet while running the garbage disposal.

These days you can even install it on your nadgers

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

I mean, if you used a bash bunny as the stick, you would have linux installed in your power. :)

[–] WagnasT@piefed.world 1 points 1 week ago

You don't have to do this, sparky linux is free to download.
