Venting the doors is the easy way. Crew can also do it if there's less fire than this.

You can also turn off power to O2 - the rooms with fire in them will run out of air a little faster than the ones without, so your crew can survive that, but it's tight.

From where you paused, I'd turn off O2 and keep trying to repair the medbay. Hole up in the medbay if that gets fixed before everyone's dying, otherwise run to the less-on-fire part of the ship and hope all the fires burn out before reaching you.

not gonna put out three plots of fire with that hp. send everybody to engines immediately, hopefully the two closest to the door in medbay will survive (don't count on it). you need to be in the back of the ship so you don't suffocate during the burnout. fire will move through broken doors more easily, keep the fire out of O2 and engines if at all possible.

it's probably a wrap tho, rip in peace brave feds

Looks like his door control is busted lol

Hide everyone in engines/oxygen, turn off oxygen and let the fire burn itself out. Normally you would do that by opening the outside doors and creating a vacuum, but your doors are broken so you can't manually open them.

Another reason the Lanius B is the best ship in the game, if your crew dont need oxygen then your ship can be like 99% fire proof all the time.

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

OK but getting more Lanius/whatever the ethereal races are is incredibly RNG

[–] YangJingyu@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah thats definitely true, I think the only way you can even attempt to manipulate it is by going to lanius sectors when given the choice. That being said, you basically dont even need more crew if you run the Lani B boarding build, because two goons that suck oxygen out of the room they go in is enough to destroy like 95% of the ships you encounter, even on hard. At least until the later sectors. But by then, the additional money from boarding kills will usually lead to you having a cracked ship, so it doesnt even matter. Basically I love those little scrap metal buddies, especially that event where your Lanius crew member just eats a computer to get rid of a harmful virus.

Lmao at people proposing plans of action like this isn't 100% game over

Have you tried running to the pilot seat and jumping to the next beacon? Won't put out the fire but that will be a problem for future you to deal with!

Yeah, in the case of broken doors, turn off oxygen and hold up in the engine/oxygen room

I think this might be the end for our intrepid crew

Now I wanna play FTL but it's never gotten ports for some reason and I can't be arsed to sit at my desk

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

Remember that oxygen is a privilege not a right and fires become easier to extinguish.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

i normally just focus on reparing doors so i can use the void to put out the fires

[–] axont@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

If I remember right a common tactic is to only have O2 in rooms where your crew will be. Everywhere else can have their doors wide open to the embrace of the void

this game was the shit back in school, small enough to fit on a USB stick so we could just plug in and play on the school computers.
