Kristi Noem: “It never ends, but it’s so lazy, to make fun of women and how they look. Only the liberals and the extremists do that. If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that. But clearly they can’t. They pick something petty like that."

They are not criticising women, they're criticising Kristi Noem.

[–] pachrist@lemmy.world 20 points 16 hours ago

South Park does not often criticize people for how they look. They usually criticize people for how they made themselves look.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 28 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that. But clearly they can’t

Oh no, they can and did do plenty of that

[–] Killer@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

You think she actually watched the episode to know that?

[–] chrislowles@lemmy.zip 39 points 21 hours ago

Notice how quick they are to pull the ism/ist playbook out when they're the targets, I know it's been said before but I don't care, every accusation is an admission when it comes to the MAGA/GOP constituency.

[–] NoodlePoint@lemmy.world 35 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

screeching "sexist"

ultraconservative power-mad woman supporting obviously sexist bigots in power.

Such duality.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 31 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

yeah they famously never criticize men for how they look

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Michael Jackson doesn't count cuz he's trans or something. -conservatives probably

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Or how often they say thank you.

[–] Coleslaw4145@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

She didn't say anything about shooting the dogs because she probably doesn't realize its a parody and instead thinks of it as an accurate representation.

Two things:

  1. This lady must not know what South Park is.

it’s so lazy, to make fun of women and how they look. Only the liberals and the extremists do that.

👁👄👁 wat?

It's like fucking wordsalad everytime a MAGA-person is talking. This genuinely feels like a bait comment.

Btw, you are the extremist, sweetie. I also remember how the MAGA crowd made a ton of weird claims against Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election. Took out of context clips where she made weird faces and made conspiracies about her being a robot or a reptile or that she was having a stroke and was therefore unfit to lead the country. So many embarrassing and awkward pics and clips of her on the internet. Lots of comments about how it made sense why Bill cheated when he had to look at "that" everyday. But I guess it's okay when your side does it, right? Man, how childish and retarded politics have become. I miss when the grown ups were in charge.

Do you remember "Michelle Obamamust be a man because she has wide shoulders"?

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 1 points 22 minutes ago

They still do 'Michelle is a man' stories as of today. The latest one I've seen is that Michelle Obama is trans, and was a man when they started dating.

Its insane the amount of straight fiction the conservatives come up with to try and tar anyone an inch to the left of them, when they've such an abundance of real conspiracies in their own ranks. Mental illness.

Photos and debunking here: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/photo-michelle-obama-trans-conspiracy-theory/

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 5 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Oh yes, I knew a lady who was convinced that Michelle was a man and shared pictures of her crotch area where the fabric was crinkling. Supposedly that was her bulge.

Same lady also fell for the holocaust denial after seeing a ww2 timeline with clearly edited dates on it. I forget the exact significance of the dates and how they "proved" the holocaust never happened but I stopped speaking with her after that shit.

I generally don't mind when people are a bit nutty or when they hold opinions I disagree with, but I have my limits, lol. Conspiracy theorists are were I often draw the line and very harshly. I don't like when people start bending reality and live in delusions.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Guess she forgot how much hate Michelle Obama got from the Rupublicunts over her looks. But I guess Noem doesn’t consider Michelle Obama to be a woman to begin with.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 9 points 1 day ago

It is based when we shit on Michael, but it is disgusting sexism when SS Commander Noem gets mocked

[–] Njos2SQEZtPVRhH@piefed.social 17 points 1 day ago (14 children)

It may be very common these days that people alter their appearance through means of plastic surgery and what not. But it's perfectly fair to criticize this behavior. Of course South Park will grab any noticable feature and go over the top with it, so you shooting your puppy becomes you shooting puppies all the time, and you looking like a woman made of plastic becomes your face collapsing regularly.

So she admits he's either a liberal or an extremist. I bet she doesn't think he's a liberal.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Conservatism is an ideology that wants the in-group protected by the laws but not bound by them, and the out-group bound by laws but not protected by them.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago

As I remember first hearing it, "rules for thee but not for me"

[–] Coolbeanschilly@lemmy.ca 114 points 1 day ago (2 children)

If Trey Parker and Matt Stone get arrested, then you know freedom of speech in the US is truly dead.

I give it a year or two, tops.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Oh lol, they will just get cancelled. You know, the thing that conservatives have been projecting about the last several years.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Yup. The network will be bought before long, just watch.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

And they'll take that cancelation straight to the bank, because they just got renewed before the season kicked off.

They won't because feds never go after high profile people. They find "lesser" people to abuse and rub that into peasants' faces.

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah that was the old feds. The new feds are operating like a mafia, so they will 100% go after at least one high profile person to make an example out of and take all their shit as a warning to the others. Kinda like Putin and his oligarchs. My guess has been Mark Cuban would be the example, but perhaps Matt and Trey would also work

My biggest problem with her appearance is when she appears to be shooting a fucking puppy.

[–] cubism_pitta@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That part where she talks about doing what has to be done is directly from her auto biography... where she talks about shooting her puppy and goat.

My memory is bad but I recall her kids getting home from school right after she shot the goat.

If they hadn't gotten home she was going to piss in the fish tank too.

Bitch is unhinged and they were kind to her

LOL, they are definitely not liberals.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (10 children)

They've said before that, if you had to label them, the most accurate label would probably be libertarian. Which is pretty par for the course for the criticize/mock everyone and play on the shock and disgust of others for a laugh crowd, which was definitely true to a great degree in the early seasons (I say that with love for Trey and Matt).

Of course that was 20 years ago, and people change. But if I had to guess, I bet they would say that their politics have remained largely unchanged even as the show has transformed... well, transformed, a bit. I was going to say "matured" but that definitely seems wrong. We're still talking about small dick jokes and gory murder of animals which has a long proud tradition in South Park.

Anyway, any appearance to a leftward shift is largely just the rightward shift of American politics and those in power while they remain in place. No offense intended to them, but I can't imagine decades of success in media production, specifically by saying "fuck you" to everyone, has made them LESS libertarian. It's a trope for a reason.

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago

Yeah, they've stayed where they were while everyone around them goosestepped to the right, and now accuse them of being leftists.

Can't wait for people to start calling them woke. 🤦‍♂️
