Im so confused as to why this is titled "Lemmy Edition" but all the hyperlinks lead back to the privated reddit sub. Maybe I'm missing something. I'll just stick to the rentry link but I'd think it's better off to just remove this to avoid confusion.

hello, comrades. thanks a lot for your effort. just to be sure, is this community maintained by the same staff from r/Piracy? i deleted my Reddit account months ago and i can't check it out myself... ^^U

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 72 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was the top mod in /r/piracy, so ye

[–] cristalcommons@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

aa, thank you for replying and confirming! :)

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Myself I moved here only and don't plan to keep /r/piracy alive. However some other mods are dedicated to being unpaid jannitors for spez, so

[–] cristalcommons@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

that's very sad, i'm sorry.

one may feel unsupported because others don't have enough courage to leave Reddit, leaving you alone with this, which perhaphs is more difficult than moderating r/Piracy without mods.

Might even feel outrageous if they joined later only in case Lemmy is a success thanks to the people here, but i don't know.

i find you people very brave and forward-looking, thank you all for your effort <3

Ivpn stopped as well. Let's hope this is not a trend..

[–] freedomenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When reading the reasons of mullvad to stop, my guess is that others will follow

[–] alexg_k@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Agreed. I think the only VPN providers that are able to keep offering port forwarding are those that log data and hand it to the authorities.

[–] andymouse@slrpnk.net 2 points 6 months ago

No, Njalla at njal.la offers port forwarding

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Fuckin missed you guys.

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

With mullvad not allowing portforwarding, should we be recommending it?

[–] Lord_Boffum@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Came here to post this. If seeding is important to you, and I hope it kinda is, then you need port forwarding. So Mullvad is out, or at least I switched away from it.

[–] imgonnatrythis@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Switched to what? Mullvad was a trustworthy reliable staple.

[–] andymouse@slrpnk.net 2 points 6 months ago

I go with Njalla for torrents until I hear anything weird about them

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Lord_Boffum@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I wonder if they couldn't have just switched to NAT-PMP port forwarding like Proton does.

[–] Lime66@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

About port forwarding, is it nessecary to download or just to upload?

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I am no expert, but I think it does deal with both? Definitely upload, but I think that if your ports aren't forwarded correctly then you won't get as many download connections?

[–] DarkTides@lemmy.fmhy.ml 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've relied on this mega thread for a long time.

Are there any tips to see check if VPN isn't leaking anything when torrenting? Mullvad used to let you check with a magnet link they provided before they got rid of it.

[–] ober@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 1 year ago

Personally I use the torrent ip check on ipleak.net. You just add the magnet to your client and it'll fail itself and then list the ip on the site.

[–] FromAbyss@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Thank you for keeping the internet alive and well, comrades.

[–] Prollol@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Could you ammend the reddit links to point to old.reddit? The new design is just bad to look at.

[–] baduhai@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago

Be sure to save our Megathread for future reference without relying on Reddit.

Bit of a mute point now, isn't it? :)

[–] AlexanderAlexis@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (8 children)

can you add some "otherlanguages" section? or some trusted websites for keygens, also for the italian piracy site, theres a list with some of the italian most famous websites, both torrent and emule.

update: ripped.guide has returned to normalcy...

their domain seems to have been hijacked by a disgruntled former staff member who deliberately ruined the site. maybe you could add the site back? it was quite a useful resource.

[–] sunbrothersco@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's still there at https://rentry.co/megathread. A new pinned post will be made at a later date so everything makes sense.

[–] halfpipe@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Thank god for Lemmy

I guess

[–] NoTime@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The links under section 1 link to Reddit, may be an idea to host those elsewhere?

EDIT: I missed the link at the bottom, looks like it's all on rentry.co

[–] UnPassive@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this community on social.fossware.space before? Anyone know what happened?

I'm particularly interested because my main Lemmy account was on the fossware instance which seems to have disappeared overnight. Not sure if it's just temporarily down, or was moved here. I definitely can't log in to lemmy.dbzer0.com as my old account.

Not sure where best to post this question because the dbzer0 instance doesn't seem to have a meta community

Edit: looks like c/div0 might be the meta community

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No this community has always been here. There is another in !piracy@lemmy.ml but it's a different community

[–] UnPassive@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks! I'll keep a lookout on news of what happened to fossware (probably just down for server issues)

[–] SomeBoyo@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Can XDCC / IRC be added to the megathread?

[–] Yokozuna@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Hey all, so about 10ish years ago I used to torrent a few things, nothing heavy like games or programs but just TV shows and what not. I got burned pretty bad, had my computer compromised and files encrypted. I was able to salvage most of my rig but a lot of pictures and files were lost to the ether. I want to get back into this but understandably I'm pretty concerned about it. Any tips on getting safely back into sailing the seas?

[–] clot27@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

Why most of the links redirect to reddit? I dont want to open that website.

[–] clot27@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

the first optimized settings image dont load

[–] LeHappStick@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sorry if this is not the place, but I've seen that pretty much all games from gog-games get flagged by the same vendor, I suppose that is a false positive?

Or is that website not recommend anymore?

[–] xandertron@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

if it doesn't give a reason, it probably just trips on something common between all of the installers, the actual installing part

[–] jayesk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Would suggest Ripped is removed at the bottom, all explained below vvvv :/

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 year ago

ok but that screenshot is cancer

[–] Sleeping@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

Stared at this for so long, everything's looking pink now, lol

[–] hungry_freaks_daddy@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can’t figure out how to ‘save’ a post in the wefwef app. Anyone?

Hey. I'm a noob pretty much. I was wondering if there is a way to test out TomTom Live traffic services on my Tomtom Rider 50. I bought it used, there's an account on it. I'm scared if I reset it, that the map will be gone. And that's 50€. I didn't find anything so far. Only thing I find is the apk for the mobile app, but nothing for the actual satnav

[–] Durotar@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is there a place, where I could find articles from media like WSJ, NYT, WP and other text content hidden behind paywalls?

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

12ft.io/ but it doesn't work with NYT iirc

[–] LudwigvanBeethoven@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

You can also install Bypass Paywalls Clean on browsers.
