MODERATORS

cross-posted from: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/3401860

I semi-often hear people complain about Lemmy's moderation tools. It's happened enough that I think it's a sign that moderation tools need improvement. Some ideas I have so far:

  • Let community mods view list of who's banned from community
  • Put community edit/mod features on own page instead of stuffing it into the sidebar

I'm looking for other ideas for improvement I can do in addition to these.

I think this might be a Lemmy wide change but when somebody reports a comment/post and I resolve it without removing/banning, I want to optionally put the reason why and have that be visible

I'm a community mod and it would be super helpful to be able to like, push a site ban up the pipeline with a click instead of needing to use outside tools to suggest the ban to a site admin

+1 to this, almost any offense that warrants a comm ban also warrants a siteban and streamlining that process by sending siteban requests to the admins would be really helpful

I'm not gonna suggest that community mods should be able to issue a sitewide ban, but giving us a one-click option to "Suggest Sitewide Ban" or something and send it to the site admin queue would be good.

Perhaps instead of or in addition to the "view list of bans" there could be a search by community feature in the modlog. As it stands right now, when you search by "banning from communities" you can search by username but not comm name.

You can technically do this in the UI already, however it's not communicated well. If you click on the modlog badge on a community's sidebar, you will only be shown mod actions in the community.

If we could actually save comments that'd be nice

WDYM? like, a separate save function as a moderator tool or is your profile save feature not working?

Not that I can do anything about it as a mere absentee janitor, but curious because as far as I can tell the save feature works fine.

Like the ability to save comments so I can quote them or reply later, like Reddit has. We technically have something for that but it seems to be bugged cuz I've never had any luck using it.

Do you mean a different kind of save than is done with the star button?

Idk maybe they fixed it and I just haven't tried it in a while
