Dang, that voter fraud the ‘Pubs are always talkin’ about sure does seem to be everywhere. Lock ‘em up! Right?

[-] Hoomod@lemmy.world 47 points 10 months ago

They know there's fraud because they're the ones committing it

[-] Hairyblue@kbin.social 21 points 10 months ago

Republicans are dishonest and think everyone else is dishonest too. So if they are committing voter fraud everyone else must be doing it too.

[-] genoxidedev1@kbin.social 20 points 10 months ago

Yep, such hypocrites. Always screaming "FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!!!11!" but when someone on their side gets arrested for it (I feel bad saying "when", because it's always a republicunt), suddenly everyone is quiet, because it "obviously never happened" they never talk about things that don't fit their agenda. But at the same time they always keep talking like they are the ones taking the high road.

Your MAGAT raving is vitriolic enough, but it's spelled correctly and uses correct punctuation. Might want to try again.

Ah I always have problems with that, last time it was not randomly uppercase enough- I'll keep this feedback in mind next time, thanks!

He's also being challenged on where his actual residence is. State law requires representatives to live in the districts for which they are elected.

When asked if he moved any furniture, electronics, dishes, etc. into the home he answered no, when asked if he had moved any personal property into the home he answered: “I do not remember.” When asked if anyone assisted him in moving into the home he answered: “I cannot recall.”

The commissioner asked the following question: “The Sinopoli leader indicates that the leased property was not furnished. What furniture did you use at the Conservancy Drive house during the period of the lease?” Cole answered: ‘I don’t recall.” Cole also said that he did not recall sleeping overnight at the home and stated that his children did not sleep overnight at home.

He also stated that he did not recall ever eating a meal or bathing at the home

So, not just voter fraud, but also election fraud.

[-] PinkPanther@sh.itjust.works 23 points 10 months ago

This is what I'm going to answer everything from now on, giving me a free pass: "I don't remember". Piece of shit.

Only works if you're rich, sorry.

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

I'm not sure that defense works for him in this case. A fair jury isn't going to believe he lives in a house he can't remember ever sleeping, eating, or bathing in. (Assuming they have a fair jury)

[-] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 25 points 10 months ago

Up to ten years in prison? That sounds awesome. Do it!

Weird how Trump's investigations couldn't find any evidence of Democrats committing voter fraud in Georgia, but missed this case of blatant voter fraud. Almost like the investigation was a little one-sided.

[-] Saneless@sh.itjust.works 19 points 10 months ago

I feel bad doubting republicans talking about voter fraud. I guess when you know your republican friends and fellow Republican lawmakers are doing it, you're not lying when you say it's a problem

[-] AlwaysNowNeverNotMe@kbin.social 15 points 10 months ago

Fox will report on this with a D next to his name.

[-] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 10 points 10 months ago

They won't report on it. Or they won't say his party, but will imply it.

Rep. Cole, D

[-] magnusrufus@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

I remember them doing this all the time back when they first went in the air. It's part of what actually made me aware of politics. I was doing a school report on some local politician that got in legal trouble and they did a story covering the same politician which seemed exciting at the time. I was shocked that they listed the republican politician as a Democrat, thought for sure they would issue a correction for such an embarrassing and obvious mistake. A few days later as a text footnote at the end of one of their broadcasts they finally "corrected themselves". But I was paying attention now and they did this all the time. If the scandalized politician was not known nationally they would accidentally report the wrong party to try and make the Dems look bad.

Well, Lemmy reports it with a registered trademark symbol next to his name!

(R) becomes (R) in this markup.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Considering how much they love their corporate donors, that's apt.

Republican policy today is that is doesn't matter if your business is the biggest moneymaker in the state; if you disagree publicly with the Führer, you must be punished.

The Repubs gave up on big business. Scammers, hate groups, and Russia are their favorites now.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Alabama state Rep. David Cole (R) on Tuesday was arrested and charged with voter fraud on accusations he voted in “multiple or unauthorized locations,” according to jail records provided by Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s records, Cole was booked Tuesday afternoon and released on bail amounting to $2,500.

Al.com, a local news outlet, said Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office confirmed he was prosecuting the case.

Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R) issued a statement Tuesday, according to multiple reports, and said the investigation was ongoing and he was waiting for more details to emerge.

“In recent years, the Alabama House has prioritized legislation that promotes election integrity, and we believe that any allegation of fraud must be addressed regardless of the party, public official, or candidate involved,” the statement read.

“Alabamians may remain confident that their elections are conducted honestly, their votes are cast and counted fairly, and their ballot boxes are secure.

[-] Vlhacs@reddthat.com 5 points 10 months ago

Republicans, probably: "See? We told you there was fraud!"

[-] jtk@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 10 months ago

No, it'll be: "Why aren't the democrat frauds being arrested too!?!?!?!?". Everyone: "There's no evidence". Them: "It's a conspiracy!" Everyone: "The few that have been found to have committed fraud, even by accident, have gone to prison. There's no conspiracy." Them: "They're just part of the cover up, they're probably plants."

It's exhausting just to list their predictable retorts, especially when you know it'll never convince them and they'll just start looping through the bullshit until "Everyone" just gives up. That's how they win.

[-] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

Show me a Republican who isn't currently committing a felony and I'll show you a dead person.
