Repeating "Dr. Pepper is a woman." To myself like it's some kind of gender Koan.

They might. But I think It's more likely a "Ms." Drink would just be a new flavor profile. Ms. Pibb, now with bubblegum!

Maybe Dr. Pepper was a woman this whole time.

7-zip is already very efficient, no? Or is it being held up as an example of efficiency here?

They're in a GitHub repo and can be downloaded from there. Ask WhyEssEff

Are they actually affiliated or do they just receive funding/get used because their direct usefulness to CIA? Like self-hosted Matrix/Signal/Tor.

Is it only in some rooms?

There's a lighting effect (those shimmering ribbons in the egg room) that makes mine struggle too, but turning the graphics down to "good" gets rid of that effect and fixes the issue.

Connor O'Malley?

what's there to learn beyond just buying existing product?

I'm comfortable tinkering with hardware and software, it would be nice if that meant a drone with fewer backdoors.

this is so sad sadness

Only done a few lessons and it's much better than the previous app I tried, Mango Languages (it was free through my library). Hello Chinese is much more holistic in its approach, and starts with more simple sentence structure and repition.

It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize it was total bullshit and start to really understand evolution. it also stunted my development of critical thinking skills. I love science and the natural world so much, I still don't know if I can forgive my folks for doing that.

Shoutout to AromRa on YouTube for his creationism/evolution videos.

I have a library of movies, TV shows and music for local hosting. Right now I have a script that uses cp to copy newly added media files to a second, identical drive in another room as a backup. there has to be a better way to do this.

ignoring cloud storage and RAID, what are some command line tools that could ensure that the integrity of the files remains intact? assuming the drive continues to function properly.

These are almost exactly the same but it looks like the second has a few small supply sites not present in the first. It would also help to know the strategic value of a city one is considering moving to, as well as that of any rinfrastructure, geographical features, etc.

with the right (small-ish usually) dose, set, and setting it really is a mental performance enhancing drug. increased social performance, introspection, novel ideas, even some memory recall.

does this say something about my neurotype?

It seems to be happening more frequently that I'll be listening to a pod that discusses current events (online & otherwise) and they just utterly fail to describe what the fuck even happened. Like they'll just obliquely reference some event and it's assumed the listener already knows about it and is tuning in for the discussion. maybe they'll actually explain but only after at least few minutes of comments which I have no context for and can't really parse.

maybe I'm noticing this becasuse I'm recovering from terminally online syndrome, maybe they're getting lazier, but It's happened in chapo trap house, wtyp, seeking derangements, possibly even true anon(?). Never citations needed though, they're goated.

If you're a podcaster and you're going to discuss some current event please actually relay what happened (who, what, when, where, why) for your audience before making jokes about it.

idk, maybe this is a neurodivergence thing. and yes I am actually listening.

I got a USB midi keyboard (pictured) from a friend but I don't know what software I should use to play it.

I'm running Ubuntu with KDE Plasma and am hoping for software that's simple to setup & use. the keyboard is for simple musical tinkering.

I created an account and am signed in on element, what's a good way to get the feel for things?

Any room recommendations?

What I mean by favorite here is

"what I often find myself greatly admiring when I notice it's done really well"

gonna go with Director of Photography (cinematographer). with emphasis on the photography.

Some things I've watched recently that illustrate this role.

  • Saltburn, great use of vertical space with the 4:3 aspect ratio, lots of color and natural light. Summer is captured well.
  • Crash (1996), Lots of night scenes (always tough to get right), the setting looks appropriately dark, grimy, and mechanical.
  • Fight Club, also a (literally) dark film and looks great.
