Uh-huh, and plenty of NAS devices had 2,5Gbe even those 6 years ago.

Hehe, yes, we have those and even more, because while industry can still afford some slack (but can measure moisture, humidity while proofing, precise temperature, air contamination etc.), we scientists cannot :D

We have industrial-scale ovens and proofing chambers that cycle in the range of ±5 degrees and can control humidity through steam injection, professional-grade planetary mixers and big stationary 100+kg dough mixers, automatic devices to measure moisture content (although compensating for it goes manually), devices to measure gluten deformation, sugar content on all phases, structural properties of dough and finished product, microbial contamination of flour, dough and products, leavening activity of yeast and gas retention of dough, also рН meters and automatic titrators, chromatographs, colorimeters, ultra-precise scales...and that's only what directly relates to the baking process :D

...although yep, very regular baking takes a while under those circumstances

I am currently pursuing engineering PhD working on bakery products.

Sometimes baking is indeed an exact science :D

It's just that the typical home baker has to guess and assume a lot of things. But then, a chance of failure is naturally expected.

As a Chinese learner, it's just "vaginal examination" to me

For some reason though whatever translating software there was it picked a swear option

I see! :)

The ports on most Synology devices are the weak spot indeed.

This never was about climate science, no one denies it here. And it's sad to see you take a stance that puts your emotions above any actual productivity. But alas.

I outline the very same arguments as you in the same thread - and on the substance, I 100% agree. The question is to form, and it is more important than what you make it out to be.

The reason I talk about the way you express your concern is because the more we yell at each other and try to "expose" each other acting in bad faith, the more division grows between people and the harder it gets to actually convince anybody of anything. Anger and unfounded blame game repels, not convinces.

I'll only eat you if you're rich.

The person in question didn't argue against green energy, they argued for local European solar industry. While one of the consequences in this case could be Europe being able to install less solar, this is something to introduce in your counterargument, highlighting the consequences.

Being hostile drives people away, and this particular commenter is probably not a decision-maker in European solar, so you're not missing anything if you kindly introduce an alternative point of view. It is politicians in office that we should pressure, as they have something real to lose when we don't support them. Shitting on regular people, on the other hand, will simply get your opinion ignored.

Oof, been there

Doesn't mean there are no uses for crypto. Protesters and activists use it to fund their campaigns, for example. Or sanctions often have collateral damage that can be circumvented using crypto; for example, cutting Russia off the traditional financial system means, among other things, inability to financially support Ukrainians or the army, and on top of that, inside the country you'll be jailed if the police knows.

I personally use crypto from within Russia to rent a VPN server, and to support projects that do accept it.

Now, the other point is that proof-of-work consensus mechanism behind many of the crypto projects relies on ever-heavier computing, and while it remains unrivaled in terms of decentralization, it is not eco-friendly, which is very bad. Luckily, proof-of-stake cryptos exist, and their footprint is minimal.

Never would have thought about racism, honestly :D

But such a care is something to admire

Sure, that's what I threw in the "politically advantageous" bucket to not expand on it too much

Though I do not expect China to blackmail Europe with solar, but I see the concern.

So, I'm a long term fan of Bat for Lashes, and recently I figured out they made collaboration with The Album Leaf - a very new group to me.

I'm not normally much into ambient, but this album, Future Falling, is a true musical masterpiece. The head song has all it needs - the calm rhythms, the great progression, and just that feeling of...a great future ahead.

The track Near is amazing, too, Bat for Lashes' voice falls on it like butter on the bread - never would I think she's so good with it!

And everything, really, is so well-balanced, well-thought-out, I can't even describe. Have a listen, even if you never thought (like me) that ambient is for you!
