Its called an essay. You take primary and secondary sources, and then weave them together with arguments to persuade a point. You also provide all your sources so people can fact check your assertions based on the facts you've provided. Typically you need to read/listen to the essay. Then if you find their arguments unpersuasive, or fishy you check their sources and reply (you don't literally have to, it can be just for yourself) using their own sources against them, or your own sources and arguments that dispute their claims. Its the essence of critical thinking, genius.
Its like how people whatabout with Sudan, as though Western governments are in full bore support of either faction, and voicing displeasure for the genocide will somehow have a negative consequences if you're a public figure.

I thought that line was the rebels using Cyril's perceived hatred of the ISB to gaslight him into thinking that by helping them, he is actually helping the Empire. There are probably rebels who hate the Empire, but love the Emperor though, lol.
Its not about sources, its about real world effects. If there was a genocide not only would there be a lot of physical evidence and verifiable testimony, there would be thousands, and thousands of refugees flooding all over the region.
