Yeah I’m a donor. You’re not going to beat the death cult by joining the death cult

I don’t have the medical knowledge to comment on the blood pressure thing, but I do know that there are several non-stimulant ADHD medication options these days.

I think a lot of people’s fears come down to some combination of these silly reasons:

  • Drugs bad
  • Drug name is similar to methamphetamine and meth is bad
  • I know someone who abused stimulants and it didn’t go well for them, so that’s what’s going to happen to you too, even if you just take them as prescribed
  • ADHD is fake and you’re just taking drugs because you’re lazy
  • ADHD is real, but if you can’t overcome it through sheer effort of will, you’re lazy. And a drug addict. And that’s bad
  • ADHD is fake; it was invented by big pharma to peddle addictive drugs. So you’re being taken advantage of and you should stop taking your medication

Bearsite seems very energetic this weekend. Maybe we can channel that energy into something helpful?

I have this playlist saved that I think is meant to be exactly what you’re asking for: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5bmkfHCWd8MIU7Okk52gMO

I didn’t create the playlist; I actually don’t even remember where I found it

Srsly, if you want people in your life to actually help Palestine, there are much better ways. Maybe encourage them to donate to gofundmes on gazafunds.com or something. Go to a protest together. Tell them about the BDS movement.

But on the other hand, why do any of that when you could instead take the option of antagonizing them about their electoral choices. Really piss them off, get them to stop taking you seriously. Burn bridges and shrink your sphere of influence within your community. That’s what will really be helpful to the people of Palestine.

I can’t fucking wait for election season to be over

Linking to my megathread comment RE: terf sources in the baeddel post, for anyone reading this thread: https://hexbear.net/comment/5535857

TL;DR The version of the baeddel post that has the terf source is from two years ago. The version posted by comrade grym is an updated version from this year, which does not have the terf source (unless I missed it somewhere).

RE: transphobic sources in the comprehensive Baeddel post —

I did some digging, and the baeddel post that was posted in the other thread is an updated version that, as far as I can tell, doesn’t link to the transphobic source you mentioned. The version that has the transphobic source is from March 2022:

While the version posted by comrade grym in the other thread is from February of this year:

I really like this article!

Secondly, unitary theory redefined the terms of gender oppression in a way that places the ultimate blame on the bourgeoisie (a group that I, in my entry-level research job, definitely do not belong to, with none of the grey area associated with my maleness). I now understand the ways in which working-class men benefit from oppressing women as analogous to the ways in which scabs benefit from strikebreaking. The gains are undoubtedly real on an individual level but are not representative of workers’ ultimate class interest in either scenario. This allows for meaningful solidarity across gender lines.
