I also have a bad habit of "accidentally" working on cars without changing into my work clothes

hahahaha yeah this is real

sometimes I have the forethought to wear clothes I don't want to ruin, but it's like a 50% chance at best.

SERIOUSLY

You think a leader of the biggest economy in the world, with a population in the billions, and an active US rival is going to just immediately do an about face and kiss the ring like some USian CEO or media figure or whatever? Xi doesn't need to kiss the ring, he doesn't need to curry favor, China has something much better than favor, it has leverage

there's no guarantee that anything will be enforced consistently rn but it's enough of a possibility that it seems bad to risk it if you aren't desperate

also side note a lot of asia and the middle east requires 6 months of validity to enter, and europe 3 months

Homeless in the community? "The local agencies will help with that

I've unfortunately had a similar experience with the red cross. They'll pull out the stops to help homeowners but homeless/unhoused people you'll be lucky if you get a sleeping bag

Yeah the article definitely sucks and is full of libshit, being like "ackshually its illegal to house people only existing property owners are allowed to set up unlicensed campers/tiny homes for themselves" is so scummy.

And yeah, like I said the smears and fearmongering do pop up any time you try to house people. And the personal background of the guy running the place is immaterial to me, so not the best journalism there either.

But if theres any truth to the allegations about hijacking donations from other relief orgs(incl. cajun navy who afaik are well regarded) and getting his crooked whacko county commissioner buddy to go track down this guy for talking bad about the operation, then that's pretty fuckin questionable regardless of the county being in the wrong for trying to enforce building code on people just trying not to freeze to death. I'm not on the ground, I don't know, just putting it out there since the status coup vid provided no additional context beyond this guys word and a couple residents

yeah I've seen both things happen personally, even outside of a disaster scenario, which is why I can't just dismiss the article out of hand

people in this thread lol

"wow it really was a scam that manufacturers removed the headphone jack from phones and essentially forced ppl to buy short-lived, inferior bluetooth models if they wanted headphones. That really sucks"

"hey you must want a recommendation for yet another random pair of bluetooth headphones"

The problem isnt the individual model of headphones, though some are certainly better than others, it's the whole enchilada, manufacturers deciding en masse that wires are no more.

idk a wireless pair offhand but my sony wired headphones (mdr-v6/mdr-7506) have a metal bracket at that exact spot, and are such common, long-running products that you can actually buy spare parts when they break. Something to think about! I've had the same problem with earbuds, the 3 ft from pocket to ear is too much somehow
