Just in case you had any doubt about whether he intends to stage another coup attempt if he loses.

This is disgusting, to state the obvious.

But also a really dumb electoral strategy, so all good!

Its not election strategy at all, this prep for a coup attempt. He knows he's lost, and now he's whistling off the back porch prepping his dogs to dowhat he is too dumb and fat to do on his own.

Trump hasn't lost yet - not by a long shot - but this definitely is him preparing Plan B. This is basically just him signalling to his most loyal fans that if things don't go their way in November, they'll be richly awarded for another Jan 6 - only doing it "right" this time.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I disagree about this being Plan B. I honestly think this is exactly the plan and that he's trying to steal more money from his base while building up their bloodlust.

If he wins, send the mob to pacify his opponents. If he loses, send the mob to disrupt the elections.

I also think it's a matter of time before he finally instructs his base outright to go to the polls and make sure people are voting for the right candidate.

I think there are easier^[1] ways^[2] to steal the election than a violent insurrection.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I don't know why people keep saying "steal the election." I'm sure that's a soft goal, but as long as they can foment a civil war, profits are guaranteed.

The coup is 100% plan A. This has been Trump's strategy since at least 2000, if not even earlier than that. Their efforts to insert partisan saboteurs into the elections bureaucracy and erode public trust not only didn't stop after the last presidential election, they didn't even slow down.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Love the optimism, but in no way has Trump "already lost", nor do I think he believes that. Please make sure you and your social circle vote, volunteer, and donate to get people to the polls!

Eh, he may not know it know it, but he fears he has and this the plan b being brought closer to the fold.

But yes of course vote.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Actually winning 270+ electoral college votes was always plan B. Disrupting the counting/certification and getting put into power by a one-vote-per-state poll in the House or coronated by SCOTUS like in Bush v. Gore (which three of the current justices worked for Bush on, BTW) is 100% plan A.

[–] TehWorld@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I’m currently in the “blue no matter who” camp. Harris has momentum, but Trump still has an edge in the electoral college and that’s what actually matters.

Controversially, I’ll say that: there are no undecided voters. The person that will win is the one who can actually get their supporters to the polls. Last time around Trump got 74 million people to vote for him and as much as Lemmy/Reddit whatever site you visit seems to think that Harris is winning, it’s all about voter turnout.

Couldn't the FBI... Idk

Arrest attendees based on probable cause relating to January 6th?

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 months ago

I thought most of them were told to stay away from each other.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

So why don't we, idk, lock him up until the election is over?

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

At this time, everything is an election strategy.
