Is snapchat still a thing? Never used that but I thought from screenshots and memes that tiktok killed it (never used that either)
Gen Z loves it for some reason
I never understood that. Apparently they use it as a primary way of messaging each other? At least that's what younger relatives have told me. I've tried to have them explain what makes the app designed to hide/delete stuff after it's been read better for communication, but so far haven't gotten an explanation I could make any sense of.
Yeah my brother says its the main way to talk to girls, which sexting was its original purpose so makes sense. But also the streak system and ease of picture messaging I think keeps people using it.
I guess I'm too boomer to understand it, because I hate the idea of "picture messaging." Text is so much easier to interact with...
Tbh I only know 2-3 people who use it actively. Most use instagram DMs. I like snapchat for the face filters though
Nobody I know my age (early 30s) uses it any more. Instagram stories killed Snapchat stories. I don't know if Instagram has a disappearing messages option though.
I think it's still used a lot for private messaging?
"private"
I think you mean 'direct' messaging
Maybe. I've only known Snapchat used for sending pictures of one's privates, which is quite direct now that I think about it.
Have they fixed the issue where anyone with the URL to your pic can see it?
As far as I've read, it's never been private, let alone encrypted.
Mt family/friend group use it as a way to send pics/videos since MMS isn't great for that... at least that's what they say, I don't have it.
Definitely, I have a few group chats. It's good for general memery and snapping funny things throughout the day.
Me throughout my day:
I asked the same question, my friends all abandoned it for Instagram years ago, but I (an American) am seeing a lot of Europeans using it during my travels
I used it to receive nudes and spicy pics from one girl I dated. Downloaded it for that purpose alone. Deleted it when we stopped talking
