Also every maintenance person and mechanic has kitty litter in a closet somewhere because it's great for cleaning up oil spills

Many people believe it, including several people I know. They say it's to cater to kids who think they're cats because they have slippery slope brain and think accepting trans people means we're also starting to consider otherkin types as normal. It's like the old homophobic schtick about how allowing gay marriage will lead to people marrying their dogs.

As someone else pointed out, the only grain of truth is that classrooms are keeping kitty litter on hand, but it's for if kids get confined to a classroom for an extended period of time due to a mass shooting.

This is considerably more depressing of an explanation than I was expecting. I was hoping conservatives believed it was a liberal woke child rearing technique from tiktok or something. Like Alkaline water or breast feeding babies till they are a teenager. I guess I should just default to assuming it's always because evil.

It was a big rumor in the summer of 22 iirc. It died down a bit once kids started going back to school but it was a mainstream conservative talking point for several months

One of my friends got hit with this from his sister at his last family Thanksgiving dinner. People buy it up with all the rest.
