I'm not Catholic and don't really care who the Pope is but I know that MAGA doesn't like him. That makes me like him.
I went to Catholic school and most of my friends parents would have been democrats, were it not for abortion. If the new pope can convince those Catholics to stop supporting republicans, it’s a win.
Muricans are weird.
He's still a senior member of the catholic church and is complicit in covering up their sex abuse of children, but at least he seems to be fairly not-fascist about most other topics.
Except the part where is explicitly stated marriage is between a man and a woman.
What?
It is a battle between fundamentalists on the left and right.
The Catholic institution of marriage is defined as a religious calling between a heterosexual couple.
Pope Francis clarified that even though that definition is what it is, it is cool for Catholic priests to bless same sex monogamous unions.
Unless and until a pope changes that, it the rule in the church.
The noise you hear is fundamentalists feigning outrage to manipulate morons.
The bible was written thousands of years ago by hundreds of people in different parts of the world. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that some of their beliefs were outdated and wrong.
