Anticommunist white queer folks can still analyze systems of oppression as it relates to them, but being unable to practice intersectionality beyond "you can be A and B at the same time" and utterly rejecting materialism in favor of civility politics is a red flag.

Releasing a 4 hour video where the gist is that there are antisemites infiltrating our uwu queer leftist spaces sounds like wrecker behavior though.

Don't make me put you on the shelf next to Contrapoints, Jessie Gender. It'll break my heart. snipes-hesitation

I don't generally write people off. Just because they're adjacent to some weird youtube club or something.

Didn't chapo and this forum used to but lick certain breadtubers?

Not trying to be a dick, but I'm pretty sure that was a thing at one point

If you mean the chapo subreddit disregard everything they said, they were all libs.

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 7 points 5 months ago

You need to back the hell off

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yea they used to, not anymore since many have shown lib views in different issues.

Like if you want to like JG content thats fine, but lately she has shown she is a both sides libs when it comes to the gaza genocide, condeming Hamas and talking about the the big crisis of antisemitism in the left.

She will eventually have worst takes as time goes one, just like other breadtubers before. Just dont be surprise when it happens

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 3 points 5 months ago

I mean if she gets bad. I'll tune out, simple as.

I just like her star trek stuff mostly.

Probably why i never listened to them. I can’t take new york podcasters writing about revolution seriously lol

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yes, the chapo guide to revolution was an instructional handbook

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Clarification, even ironic books not-about-revolution with “revolution” in the name is cringe from new york podcasters

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago

Sure that’s fine

Content consumption isn't praxis. Parasocial relationships are real but not material. Examine all media critically. Jesse gender is good when she's good and bad when she's bad. If her analysis is based on bad faith arguments, poor framing, low context, lack of empirical studies, etc. then it should be criticized on those grounds. Parasocially liking someone should be something you try to not let control you. It's a one way window after all.

We don't like anybody.

I enjoyed her content until her why-I'm-voting-for-Biden video, after which I unsubscribed from and blocked her channels. The fact that Jessie has always had (leftist) political content in her videos makes it impossible for me to just write her off as another liberal being a liberal. It's like watching a video of someone who I thought was amateur space historian stubbornly argue that the moon landings are fake -- they should know better.

Jessie Gender talking about Star Trek and trans stuff: good

Jessie Gender talking about other things: bad

Nah fuck that Zionist

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

did I just witness you committing one of the types of liberalism mao-shining

Watching people go to bat for or seek validation of their parasocial relationships is so weird to me. Like she makes some youtube videos, if you like some of them great, if you don't, fine. If you disagree with enough that you stop caring about her views on anything else then stop watching. Or maybe just stop watching in general because there are definitely better informed people with better takes out there that you could be reading. It's entertainment, as long as it's not all literal brain rot who gives a fuck if other people like it or not.

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago

Chill. I'm just asking. It's not like I'm staking my life or putting any real feelings towards it.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If you're a trans woman and you have a silver play button, there was generally a regrettable chain of events that allowed that to happen. The algorithm will scarcely allow anyone actually cool to reach that level of success.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I hate to see it doomer Are there even cool trans youtubers? I have a few in my watch later I think.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 3 points 5 months ago

Honestly, there are really only two cool trans YouTubers that immediately come to my mind, and one of them seems like she's trying to be stealth, so... I guess I'll just mention DaThings, then?

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 11 points 5 months ago

I mean, it's like any content creator. Watch what you like, but don't start running defence when they start pulling stunts that rightfully make people mad.

I don’t know who that is. I like watching scott the woz even though he considers Fidel Castro an evil man because he’s a swagged out white boy only-good-gamer

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 9 points 5 months ago

She's fine, but she's a Lib and buys "Harm Reduction" as a thing that can actually happen.

[–] Beetle_O_Rourke@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago

Not online enough to know who that is.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago

I saw one of her videos which was alright. Zionism apologia is a dealbreaker for me idk. Most of those liberal, (invariably white lmao) trans woman youtube channels I view that way, tbh.

I suppose it is a valuable service to 101 the cis people, but as A Trans, I usually find myself sitting talking circles around these videos, quoting the Gender Accelerationist Manifesto because I have truly lost my mind.

[–] magi@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago

I don't know who that is, on further inspection of the channel itself.. the thumbnails are enough for me to not bother.
