On X, political commentator Ed Krassenstein, a frequent Trump critic, commented on the change of opinion about polling numbers among the former president's supporters.

"MAGA is breaking down. They are back to calling the polls fake just because they don't reflect what they want them to say," Krassenstein wrote. "It's funny how they touted the polls when Trump was up."

He's preparing his base for another January 6th.

[–] ech@lemm.ee 77 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Has been for 4 years now. It's so frustrating to watch play out in front of our eyes.

[–] timewarp@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

When he picked JD Vance he thought for sure he was going to win and almost certainly would have.

[–] 242@lemmy.cafe 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Nah, I hate this narrative. I'm sure he thought he would win, but I think it would have been pretty close with Biden ultimately prevailing. We'll never know now. But saying Trump was a lock is ridiculous.

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not after that debate where Biden looked like shit. You gotta remember how fucking little normies pay attention to politics. That debate was probably the first time most of them had seen Joe Biden in a long ass time, and he looked bad.

It would be as simple as “I’d better vote for the one who’s not gonna die in office”; which is honestly the stupidest take imaginable, but they have been defunding our schools for 60 years so what did you expect?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago

You gotta remember how fucking little normies pay attention to politics.

i'm learning from my interactions from lemmy.world that this statement defines so much of what's wrong.

... they have been defunding our schools for 60 years so what did you expect?

i think this is one the reasons why and i also think that there are other just/almost-as-big reasons as evidenced by roughly 1/4 of my 1st-generation-american college-educated extended-family members loving trump; and somehow it's mostly the boomer & gen-x aged ones while the millenials and gen-z vote the other way.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (8 children)

I had and still do have a gut feeling it won't be close and Trump gets shit stomped. Probably just high on hopium, but while the media had been talking about his leads, I just got more vibes that he didn't have the same support and his voter base has been shrinking. Biden wasn't inspiring, but I don't think trump gained more supporters over the past 4 years, and I don't think Biden had lost many. If people show up and vote, Trump will lose. With the new spark in the Dem candidacy, I expect an ass kicking barring something happening over the next few months.

[–] Myxomatosis@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

It’s still early to be optimistic but I agree with you. The whole country has seen and knows what Trump is, he is no longer an unknown quantity. He’s not an outsider fighting the system and a competent businessman like people thought he would be in 2016. The Clintons and their baggage are also out of the picture and dems are rallying behind the energy that Kamala has brought. There’s a reason why Trump and his camp are panicking.

Honestly, the numbers through the years have shown that when people show up to vote, the Dems win. That's literally all it takes. Everyone going to vote.

Even when he wins, he still casts doubt on the system. Just look at his whining about Hillary in 2017.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yup. For the last few months it's been nothing but "Biden is old and loves open borders," but when Kamala starts to pull ahead it's, "be on the lookout for runaway fraud".

hopi g this time with an American in the white house anyone approaching the capitol will be met with 20mm cannonfire.

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Honest question, as a non-American.

Surely any and all secret services will be fully prepared this time, and if some MAGA nutjobs were to try it would result in an absolute massacre, right?

Would they be dumb enough to try? I know that you're all armed to the teeth, but the US Army and Secret Service versus a bunch of cousin-fucking redneck bois is likely to end up in the former winning pretty handily.

[–] DokPsy@infosec.pub 12 points 1 month ago

See, you'd think. But unfortunately, as an old song once put it: some of those who work forces are the same who burn crosses

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

I think you're right. The last one only kinda almost worked bc bloated mussolini was calling the shots behind deployment of security forces like the national guard. Next time meal team 6 won't just be waltzing past an overwhelmed few capitol police.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago

Remember that fascists think of their enemy as being both weak and strong at the same time. This gives them a blind spot where they're incapable of weighing their enemy's true strength.

They'll try, but they're not as strong as they think they are. The number of Trump voters actually willing to get violent isn't very big. Could get very bloody in a short period of time, but they'll ultimately lose.

They're never fake when he's ahead, tho'.

Weird.

[–] snooggums@midwest.social 52 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Weren't they "fake" in 2016 and 2020 too? The man has such a limited vocabulary, no wonder he appeals to morons.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It was widely reported at the time, but vocabulary analysis put him at about 8th grader level.

[–] vanontom@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

That's a surprisingly in-depth analysis, appreciated. Donnie's brain has been rotting for almost seven additional years now, and the loud noises coming out of his face hole have only become less impressive. It's safe to say he never made it out of middle school.

that's how you win an electrician. by faking poles

[–] 2pt_perversion@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Win an electrician? Are you talking about magnetic poles?

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I’m positive that’s along the lines of their thinking. However, your guess is negative.

How does one win an electrician and why would you want one? Their upkeep is very expensive, have you priced a new Fluke meter lately? And they tend to lose them regularly too.

[–] HauntedCupcake@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

This is the best aneurysm I've ever read

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Funny how the polls were "hugely precise" when they favored him.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The melting mango is losing his shit. I don't think his ticker can take the stress, especially considering it's fueled mostly with hamberders. I'm calling it now-- if he loses the Nov election he'll have a heart attack within 6 months.

[–] a_wild_mimic_appears@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My money is on a massive stroke and noone actually recognizes it because the new word salad is just like the old word salad

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

His face drooping wouldn't be new either

[–] InternetUser2012 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The only thing going on that's fake, is him.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Is being an "Orangicist" a thing? I think I'm that.

Oh man, he is big mad (and kinda obviously scared), and that makes me quite happy.

[–] YeetPics@mander.xyz 16 points 1 month ago

Survived a gunshot, killed by the polls less than a month later.

What a weak shitheel.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 month ago

If Trump wins electoral but loses popular again there better be fucking riots

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Trumps brain at any given moment: If it is critical of me it must be ____________ 1. Fake 2. A hoax 3. A lie 4. Socialist 5. Communist 6. Horrible. 7. Random noises 8. China 9. Change the topic

[–] randon31415@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Trump: Looks at Venezuela. "Wait! If I get my cronies in charge of counting the vote and they declare me winner even if it doesn't match the polls, people aren't going to believe it? Well, I better start denigrate the polls!"
