It’s the second victory for Arizona prosecutors this week in their sweeping case against many Trump allies.

An Arizona Republican who falsely claimed to be a legitimate presidential elector for former President Donald Trump — part of a sweeping effort by Trump and his allies to subvert the 2020 election — has pleaded guilty for her role in the scheme.

Lorraine Pellegrino, one of 11 Arizona Republicans who falsely posed as Trump’s electors that year, accepted a guilty plea to a single charge for filing a “false instrument” — the fraudulent Electoral College certificate. The state charge was one of several she faced for allegedly joining in a conspiracy to corrupt Arizona’s election results.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes charged the 11 fake electors, as well as several top Trump allies, in a broad indictment in April. Trump himself was not charged in the Arizona case, but he was identified by a state grand jury as an unindicted coconspirator. Trump was also charged federally and in Georgia with felonies arising from his fake elector scheme and other efforts to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory.

>>ELECTION FRAUD FOUND<<
--^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^--

Gee, I wonder if Fox news viewers who were sooooo worried about election integrity will hear about this story.

[–] cynthorpe@discuss.online 10 points 3 months ago

FaKe NeEwWs

they wont because they were sued by dominion (the voting machine company) and lost, so they're scared to report on anything similar, of course.

[–] msage@programming.dev 3 points 2 months ago

Haven't you heard? Fox is woke now! It's all about the Newsmax now!

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 68 points 3 months ago (2 children)

It'd be good if they can get the rest of them soon. Hopefully this'll serve as an example to any would be fake electors in the coming election.

I think I have a mix of dyslexia and some kind of hallucinations, because I read that as can’t get to the restroom soon, and I just exploded and laughter.

What a horrible but simple curse to wish on someone, that was how I read it at first too

[–] cynthorpe@discuss.online 2 points 3 months ago

If anything, it makes scrolling through Lemmy more interesting 😂

They're going to try to go thr Georgia route and just make election certification entirely discretionary. That this will effectively end democracy bothered exactly zero Republican voters.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You know they’re going to fuck this up, the red counties are going to obviously contest the results before they’ve even started counting them and it’s going to make them look really stupid

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

They've planted people in the right positions in blue counties to keep their votes from being counted.

The voters are idiots. But the evil bastards running the show are not.

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

If they make election certification discretionary then if doesn't matter how they look. They can legally just not certify for any made up reason. It's how they'll avoid the charges that their fellow chuds in AZ are currently facing.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Yeah, they are actively taking over the board of elections in georgia for this very purpose.

Republicans are stand up guys, at least they admit their mistakes. The Dems are hypocrites who contest every election; you don't see them pleading guilty.

Deep state prosecutors aren't even going after them. Doesn't anyone find the lack of evidence they're doing crimes suspicious?

[–] cynthorpe@discuss.online 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Evidence? That’s the path to Satan.

[–] KillingTimeItself@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Dems are hypocrites who contest every election;

is this like, even remotely true at all? Has there ever been a single election the dems have contested? I mean there were the gore elections that were a mess, but im not sure that was even a big deal post election.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, Gore was the big one. But in typical fashion they just went "oh ok" and gave up as soon as SCOTUS said something. I wish they would have fought harder, because that entire thing was bullshit.

yeah, that would make sense to me, i could see them maybe pushing a little bit to be sure, but they probably wouldn't do anything past that, mostly because there's not exactly an available recourse for having an improperly seated president other than impeachment, which i guess you could do?

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 20 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Trump: I've never heard of her, but people are saying she's a fine lady. Everyone knows it.

[–] acetanilide@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I still don't think I quite understand how this scheme was supposed to work. Can someone ELI5?

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

They wanted to cause enough controversy so that Mike Pence could not certify the results and they could point to the few states they attempted this scheme in. This Arizona part of the scheme is step 1.

So basically...

  1. Find a few States to make up "voter fraud" in, and flood the courts with made-up voter fraud challenges.

  2. Mike Pence says, well because of all these issues there is clearly potential fraud so I won't certify the election results.

  3. Trump remains president and then takes the next steps to ensure he remains president and dictator .

The whole plan was a complete success except step 2, Mike Pence didn't go along with the plan, so that's when Trump ordered his supporters to attack the capital on Jan.6 to prevent the certification that way, which also failed.

I really don't like Mike Pence but he single handedly saved America that day.

[–] Delusional@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

He saved it that day only for trump to continue to get away with multiple crimes that should see him locked away in prison forever. And then continue on to try and steal the election again in 2024 while constantly telling his followers that Democrats are the ones that are cheats who are stealing elections without any fucking irony whatsoever. And his dumbass followers are too far gone to even try to figure out the truth so we'll be seeing an even bigger effort from them to steal the election yet again.

It's just completely fucking stupid that people are being charged and locked up for crimes they committed at the command of a massive piece of shit and yet that massive piece of shit is somehow not responsible for the crimes he commanded others to do.

[–] acetanilide@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Thanks! This is helpful.

Yeah, he gained a lot (little) of respect from me that day. The bar was low, but still.

[–] Chespirito@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I’m interested to see how maga tries to spin this in a positive way or if they’ll just completely ignore it

[–] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 months ago

The latter.

if they don't ignore it they'll probably just say that kamala fucks dogs regularly or something, they already tried it with vance.

[–] InternetUser2012 1 points 3 months ago

Let this be a wake up call for the idiots.
