:squatters-rights: I hear Chicago is lovely this time of year, read up Spacey: https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/anders-corr-anarchist-squatting-and-land-use-in-the-west

Spacey’s refusal to leave is just the latest chapter in a string of financial woes for the fallen star.

During a tearful June interview with Piers Morgan, Spacey confessed, “I’m not quite sure where I’m going to live now,” admitting that he’s drowning in debt, unable to pay legal fees, and has been forced to move his belongings into storage.

Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness!

The mansion was foreclosed on after Spacey defaulted on his $20,230 monthly mortgage payments — an amount he struggled to maintain after his firing from “House of Cards” and subsequent legal battles.

Hard to maintain the fees and pay off the assassins to stay quiet at the same time I suppose.

this is really testing my support of squatter's rights.

It's OK notice the NY post called it "refused eviction" because a celeb fav of theirs is doing it!

agony-turbo

Remember when this guy was threatening people in character? Lol this is a gem.

In retrospect, he probably should have downsized to a much more modest $10k / month mortgage.

I don't know, except that it's Todd Howard, the guy responsible for most of Bethesda's questionable executive-level business practices.

That would be a tellitubbi with a shotgun

Do these rich fucks really have no savings or is he just saying he's broke so they don't come looking for more?

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Seriously, if you have that much money why even get a mortgage, just buy a nice house outright that you can afford.

Spacey is the ghouliest of ghouls though so of course he treats money like toilet paper.

[–] cecinestpasunbot@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

You get a mortgage because the interest you would pay on the loan is less than the money you make investing elsewhere.

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Oh yeah I guess that makes sense, dealing with that amount of money is such a strange thing to me lol

[–] smokeppb@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Could be both things, as well as garnering sympathy.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 months ago

The royalties he'd be getting off things he'd done over the years probably amounts to at least 6 figures.

[–] TheVelvetGentleman@hexbear.net 21 points 3 months ago

He just needs to tighten his belt and set a realistic budget. Maybe something in the $15,000/mo would suit him better.

[–] cdf12345@lemm.ee 14 points 3 months ago

I bet jail would be in his budget

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He should just have his assassins pop that investor.

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And pay them with what exactly

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Oscars.

Nah, good point.

I am against tenant rights in this particular case

[–] smokeppb@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

It would be squatter's rights since he wasn't renting. I bet the Baltimore local squatters wont take too kindly to Spacey if he were to seriously become homeless. Nothing bad ever happens to these people.

[–] Tiocfaidhcaisarla@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

I didn't expect him to end up in Baltimore

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

I hope Christmas comes early with a Spacey vid before that day.
