nkrumah-baffled is this what y'all think about drinking fresh glacier water? Most glacier melt is less than a year old

We're all just a bunch of little goofy people here

And it's my birthday today

I'm just a little guy, a little birthday guy

Aren't there like, entire metro-areas who get their potable water supply from glacier melt collected in reservoirs?

Why hasn't Denver been taken over by brain parasites yet?

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

You can get some weird shit from preserved parasites and bacteria, if it's glacier runoff, it's filtered through miles and miles of biofilters and then probably hit again by chlorine and whatever whatever else is used by the water treatment plants.

Raw dogging a glacier is probably okay, but not for any extended period of time.

And it’s delicious

I used to think the "raw water" fad among rich assholes would die off pretty quickly. doomer

If I was an evil sentient virus that took over bodies my first step would be to use the first person I infect to do a start up and get celebrities to try my stuff, then at their next concert like 21 out of the 50 people that ordered tickets will get infected

The "influencer" reboot of the Masque of the Red Death sounds legit. mr-beast fancy-rona

had a gin and tonic with ice from an iceberg calved off a glacier once but I figured the alcohol would kill anything in it

[–] Hexboare@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Alcohol content would be too low

Most things that can survive for a long time in glacier ice are going to have a hard time surviving in the 95 degrees F vat of acid known as your stomach

Everyone should

Y'all are just jealous you won't fall into a coma 36 hours after ingestion, slough off your skin and reform it into a scabrous shell, liquefy your body for metamorphosis, and emerge as Baron Annelidaeus the Thawed... Just let people enjoy things...

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Annelidaeus

Annelidaeus

Annelidaeus

Annelidaeus

Oh, Annelidaeus

Annelidaeus, Annelidaeus

man is about to get some disease previously unknown to mankind

[–] Hexboare@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Presumably the prehistoric worms and bacteria are the evolutionary losers so shrug-outta-hecks

[–] nocturnedragonite@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 months ago

That second picture has me in fuckin tears

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

Isn’t the bigger worry what’s in the permafrost, not so much glaciers?
