I like synthetic instruments without repetitive annoying vocal samples, so a lot of my relax-and-focus music is around there, too.
If it's cringe, we can be cringe together.
Vaporwave is a great "drone" music too. I love using it for blocking out the world. It can send me to a fictional cyberspace and helps me focus. A lot of my programming is done with Vaporwave in my headphones

What if the cyberpunkerinos but actually chill and cool and without the bazinga cringe?
It's really a bummer that so much of the web's promise is not only lost, but also tarnished by folks who only know the net to be a walled gardens and silos.. "the Internet wasn't a group of five websites, each consisting of screenshots of text from the other four" as the saying goes. Lost Futures are a heallva drug man. Wish I think is the point of Vaporwave right? The sounds of a nostalgia that never was that expected a future that would never be? Something like that.
Regardless, it is our empty mall. Ours to make.
Both the near/present cyberpunkerinos and the further ahead concepts of space exploration are deeply drenched in billionaire bazinga shit, from failures of literary analysis of the original inspirational materials to the worst possible attempts to make the worst parts of such concepts a reality. Ever notice how many bazingas fantasize about Cameron's Avatar in a "kill the furries loot the resources while giving pretentious speeches about humanity fuck yeah" sort of way? Shit's dire.

Bro, I grind my teeth into dust thinking about these fuckin' losers.
The "punk" of sci-fi and fantasy is lost and wasted on these ghouls. It's so frustrating that Oligarchs were fuckin' dorks in their youth and it's worst yet all their little sicko-phants are dorks too. Bazinga shit indeed man. I hate it so much.
Based
if vaporwave is cringe, then I don't want to be cool
No
i was and will continue to be ignorant that vaporwave was ever cringe in the first place
It's cringe to feel emotion
I make vaporwave music sometimes. It's cringe but it's ok to be cringe. Gimme that barberpole phaser and reverb set to 90% wet
everything you like is cringe and everything i like is based simple as
when the drum machine has a clap
It's hip to be square
This thread is 50/50 "of course its cringe u fukken loser" and "wtf how or why is it cringe"...
Liking things is good, actually, and the thing has to be really terrible for it to be cringe. It's not cringe unless it's more artistically bereft than Thomas Kinkade paintings or more politically suspect than being into WW1 German airplanes.
Nah that shits sick
Which for some reason means good
Nah.
This west is an empty mall, and we're all in it together.
It's cute and looks good. Why is it cringe if it was all over the place some years ago?
When something gets popular, there are people who will say it's cringe. Those people usually just refuse to enjoy anything that a lot of other people enjoy. Often I find it doesn't have anything to do with the quality. This also happens generationally. Younger people will see something like vaporwave as cringe because it's old, but not old enough to be cool again like Y2K fashion is now even though it's obviously extremely cringe
Nah it's cool as hell
Loving anything is cringe nowadays. Don't let others cringing stop you from doing or wearing what you like.
It's ok, we all get older and nostalgia pilled.
(Saying that as someone that also loves vapor wave and is probably older than you.)
Actually I remember back when it was trending I used it as a coping method for dealing with retail jobs. I'd watch a lot of vaporwave being played over footage of dead mall tours. Before I became a leftist, vaporwave was my reminder that the consumerism will die eventually.
vaporwave was my reminder that the consumerism will die
yeah that was the original intent behind vaporwave. the juxtaposition of modern consumer kitsch with ruins of greco-roman statues was to suggest that our capitalist society will meet the same fate. it's funny and sad that vaporwave regressed into vapid nostalgia for the 80s when the point was to be critical of nostalgia
No, it's just that there is a bunch of garbage mixed in with the good
