AFAIK it has always been this way. I don't think I've been banned from an entire instance, but who knows? If I have, I wasn't told about it. Do they only allow interaction from people registered to their instance?

oh my god, what a snowflake mod. Not even a real reason, I have banned people from my instance. Reason? Racism. Homophobia. Transphobia. Never "republican".

What's weird is I have definitely been very liberal over there, I am somewhat active in !iowa@midwest.social and have never seen anything. Do the admins just have one snowflake mod?

The admin himself seems to have an attitude problem.

Wait, they said nothing productive was coming from the thread, including themselves, then locked it? I'm a little confused, what was the ban for?

[–] Furball@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

They mean “lib” in the leftist way, as another word for capitalist

It's not loading for me. Is that all it says?

If so that's strike two for me WRT that place.

Thanks, but this is essentially the equivalent of telling me to refresh again.

And the instance's sidebar:

A lemmy server for, but not limited to, leftists in the Midwest USA

yay more tankies in disguise

Welcome Midwest social members to other instances, when they come. They were always very welcoming to me and I am grieved that this is happening.

I commented once on one of that instance's communities when an instance admin was mass banning people for ridiculous reasons and was told by some of the mods that all I was doing was "giving them work" by reporting violations of their own rules. Ever since, I've had them blocked.

Seeing the reason for why you're banned tells me I made the right choice.

Looks like you got banned for 1 year 2 months ago.

This technically violates rule #5 but I feel like it's a valuable information and discussion to have available.
