"There are multiple leviathan-class lifeforms detected in this region. Are you sure that whatever you doing is worth it?"

[–] drasglaf@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

One of the best games of the past decade for me.

'Wait what is that' is a bigfin squid, they live in the deep and are hard to find because of that. That's just a juvenile, that's why it's not that big.

Bro, what do you consider big??

That website really is infected with advertisement cancer

Comments like yours make me glad I can block ads easily on my phone haha.. Sometimes I forget what the "normal" experience looks like

Uhm, what are the balloons in the background? And do i want to know?

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago

Those are his friends, Jeph and Kile.

[–] ursakhiin@beehaw.org 5 points 2 weeks ago

Nothing to worry about. Just body snatcher pods

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Somebody who actually knows what they’re talking about can correct me here, but I’m pretty sure those are the tentacles, with the grabby things on the end- and in the foreground… because it was annoyed at the sub/rov. (And may have punched it.)

(“grabby things” is a highly technical term.)

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

It’s the Humbolts you gotta be worried about. These guys mostly just lurk and silently judge your music choices.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Eldritch abomination looking ass

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 51 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Ooo! That last one has long fascinated me. It's a Siphonophore called Praya Dubia. They can get as long as 160 feet long!

[–] Biskii@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 weeks ago

Just what I came to the comments for. Thanks for the link

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Siphonophores are all fascinating and Praya especially so!

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Giant isopods are so fucking cool and I hope they know it.

[–] ouRKaoS 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I just hope they stay in the deep sea...

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 12 points 2 weeks ago

They Will Rise. They Will Swarm. They Will Rule.

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

They're so used to the high-pressure environment of the deep ocean that they'd just explode into something resembling jelly or phlegm if they came to the surface

Soon everything will be deep sea

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Dennis looks like the ripper from Metroid

[–] ursakhiin@beehaw.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

I believe Dennis is actually a Slipper Crab, though

[–] Poogona@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

Even without a centralized brain, jellyfish can both learn from past events and change their behavior to preempt expected events.

No need to look for aliens in space when we've got plenty of them to make contact with underwater

[–] TheChemist@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Cthulhu actually DID exist somewhere in the ocean.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Dennis is the cool neighbor that always shares his weed. And the squid is a master mixologist who’s just waiting to take your order.

The, glowy rope thing… kinky, but seriously not worth it.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

Don't forget Reginald!!

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

That's not a jellyfish that's a frisbee that grew legs.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago
[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's a magnapinna. Maybe because of the legs, we don't judge 😁
