More votes than every other candidate in history

Bro hasn't been introduced to the concept of demographic growth

[–] Self_Sealing_Stem_Bolt@hexbear.net 58 points 2 months ago

Yeah, she lost in a historic fashion. Like, embarrassingly bad. And her sycophants are just like, "its opposite day!"

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 80 points 2 months ago

She outperformed George Washington by a factor of 2,678:1! How can you not respect her campaigning abilities?

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 73 points 2 months ago

the-democrat "So, we got our asses handed to us pretty hard this election...clearly we need to change nothing except ramp up and extend the duration of our shame and insult 'get the vote out' campaigns"

[–] mar_k@hexbear.net 66 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

hillary fucking clinton was an astoundingly unlikeable open warmonger and STILL beat trump in the popular vote

[–] GenXen@hexbear.net 58 points 2 months ago (1 children)

| save 2

The fact that one of those two had nearly 12 million more votes despite his brain leaking out of his ear seems somehow relevant, but who am I to 'opine'?

[–] OprahsedCreature@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 months ago

Apparently you only get to opine if you're educated in civics. Say, is Drew Comments educated in civics?

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 55 points 2 months ago

Did she get more votes than trump che-smile

[–] cryptymythy@hexbear.net 55 points 2 months ago

Charlie Brown ass political party

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 51 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Even ignoring the massive “raw number versus percentage” problem, her raw total dropped off by more than 6 million from Biden in 2020. There’s no amount of lipstick that can be put on that pig.

[–] blame@hexbear.net 50 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Probably like 95% of their votes are already baked in through pure inertia, it's possible she could have run no campaign at all and landed roughly where she did.

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 32 points 2 months ago (4 children)

isn't that basically what she did?

[–] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 55 points 2 months ago (1 children)

She did tell anti-genocide protestors to shut up and also said, "Actually, I love fracking!"

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 42 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

She also told trans people, "I love laws", while her supporters were going around telling them that Trump was going to pass laws to round them up and put them into camps.

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"I will wave goodbye when they put you in the caddlecar" wasn't the winning campaign message they thought it was.

Probably would have done better if she had done nothing.

Hell they'd make successful decisions then immediately reverse when they were shown to be good ones only to go full warmonger.

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 27 points 2 months ago

No. She ran a campaign. She was all over social media. She had commercials. She was doing rallies. She was pretty active.

In a way that was the problem because she was not giving the speeches and answering the questions that motivated people to vote for her. Her inability to move even a fraction left on some key issues just gave more fuel to the dumpster fire of apathy and resentment that the Democrats keep perpetually burning and really ended up suppressing turnout. People would rather stand alone in the cold than huddle around it anymore.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Nope, she tried her damnedest to run her election into the ground and still managed to get 63 million votes.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

A paper bag with a smiley face drawn on it would probably have received the same number of votes.

This person is simply uneducated in the fact that people fuck each other and move, causing population to grow.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 42 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Let's do the same thing forever and expect different results. That's the sign of true intelligence

:vaz: Do you know what the definition of insanity is?

[–] JustSo@hexbear.net 39 points 2 months ago

Just a reminder that if you hadn't cheated Bernie your precious billionaire CEO would still be sunning his balls on a yacht right now.

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 36 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I like how they say that as if the democratic ticket, regardless of candidate, wasn't being relentlessly pushed for 9 months. If anything the switch itself generated more buzz and interested about the campaign than any other action.

you can't shame and insult people into voting for you ... but that wont stop us from trying!! jokermala

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 34 points 2 months ago

The campaign ended right as it was starting to plummet. In all likelihood, with a full 7 months, she would have done even worse.

[–] TechnoUnionTypeBeat@hexbear.net 30 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

got more votes than every other candidate in U.S. history

Which has never fucking mattered in a presidential election, it always comes down to electoral college votes. Popular vote means nothing and never has

except 2

lol

lmao

Imagine posting that L and thinking it's a win (Those 2 are Biden and Trump)

[–] OgdenTO@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is mostly a consequence of rising population numbers, and is a silly statement

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

In a democracy with a rising population you should hope for every election to have a higher turnout than the previous election.

Having a lower turnout should mean your democracy isn't very democratic.

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

We need some kind of tech where anyone who posts about an election that is more than 3 years away instantly receives an electric shock from their computer. It should increase in intensity with every infraction all the way up to death because I can't fucking take this shit dawg omg just shut the fuck up we haven't even inaugurated the guy from the last election yet

[–] prole@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

This is a killer app idea

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago

Diode politics, the flow of blame can only go in ONE direction!

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Losing an election makes you a bad candidate, I don't make the rules.

[–] prole@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago

And she lost to a guy who lost his last election, so bad²

[–] jUzzo6@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Maybe they can for once let primary run it’s natural course instead of pre-selecting candidates. Outrageous, I know.

[–] WafflesTasteGood@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

There where states that had down-ticket Dems with more votes than her. Like people voted straight democrat except Kamala. This is a clear cut example of a bad candidate.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago

Really makes me think there might be something to the idea that Dems lose on purpose because it's better for fundraising

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

not qualified to opine

If I'm 'not qualified to opine' then I better be safe than sorry and simply not vote for her (a sentiment apparently shared by the 15 million people who decided not to vote democrat this time around)

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

Telling the democrats I can't vote for them because I'm just not qualified to.

Dafuq is civics? From civ 5?

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

If you believe in a democracy you should probably not use the word "mandate" so flippantly

[–] AntifaSuperWombat@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

Liberals really need to learn how to take an L, but I’m pretty sure their overinflated egos won’t allow that.
