Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

[–] Lightor@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Nor that people don’t care about shit like this anymore.

Remember all those movies where America was smart, strong, and just? What a bunch of bullshit.

[–] Australis13@fedia.io 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You're forgetting that the President is typically a decent, honorable, heroic individual in many of those films too.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

A lot of movies are more or less subtle political propaganda.

More or less.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It has always been very striking how Americans love movies where in times of trouble disparate people overcome their differences to work together and solve problems selflessly for the greater good, but in real life they absolutely hate this idea.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

The cancer that is the republicans hate it. Like real cancer, they only want to multiply, destroy, and make everything them.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 month ago

fantasies, the whole lot.

404 Birthright Citizenship Not Found.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Can’t tell me my executive orders aren’t constitutional if you can’t find the constitution!

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Everyone already knows what the constitution says:

We the people, er, can be assholes to you whenever we want and you can't do shit, and we got big guns, and trucks, and fuck you.

Wow - was the WH site always such a propaganda piece for the current administration? Never noticed before, but upon checking out the site just now (looking for the Constitution), the whole site seems to be a straight-up propaganda bullhorn.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

It's not like I went there often, but from what I recall it was generally very bland professional site.

But Trump is maximum narcissism, and lots of folks are leaning into it to drive autocratic sensibilities.

[–] YerbaYerba@lemm.ee 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Luckily my trump bible already includes a copy of the constitution!

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did they "mistakenly" leave out the fourteenth amendment?

[–] YerbaYerba@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

No person buying that shit is going to read it anyway.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's just being revised, nothing to see here.

[–] kablammy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The website or the constitution?

[–] frezik@midwest.social 5 points 1 month ago

Don't worry about it.

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago

At this point I think anyone who gives a damn should order a physical paper copy of the Constitution.

[–] ProIsh@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago
[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Constitution? Never heard of her

[–] bufalo1973@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

Constitution -> her -> rape target for Orange Shit.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

No shit. It's not like it really means anything. I think they only use it to fill out the page count in the bible sold by Trump.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

The fact that its possible that this was intentional or Musk is pulling random wires again is disconcerting.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

Constitution : terminated

[–] aarRJaay@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All eyes will be on it when it comes back to see what's been changed.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I was about to reply saying that there's no way they would do something that insane... Then I remembered the events of the past week.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Totally on brand.

These people shit all over the Constitution. They just pardoned terrorists, doing something for the guy that, according the Constitution, should not even be holding that fucking office in the first place.
