Anarchism is a social movement that seeks liberation from oppressive systems of control including but not limited to the state, capitalism, racism, sexism, speciesism, and religion. Anarchists advocate a self-managed, classless, stateless society without borders, bosses, or rulers where everyone takes collective responsibility for the health and prosperity of themselves and the environment.

Fumiko Kaneko sits on her knees wearing a striped kimono with her hands clasped in front of her, staring intently ahead. c. 1925, author unknown [Wikipedia]

Fumiko Kaneko, born on this day in 1903, was a Japanese anarchist, nihilist, and opponent to Japanese imperialism in Korea. Fumiko is perhaps best remembered for her "The Prison Memoirs Of A Japanese Woman", written while imprisoned after being convicted of high treason against the Japanese government.

Together, Fumiko and her Korean partner Pak Yol published two magazines which highlighted the problems Koreans faced under Japanese imperialism and showed influences of their radical politics. Sometime between 1922 and 1923, they also established a group called "F"utei-sha (Society of Malcontents)", which Fumiko identified as a group for direct action against the government.

These activities soon brought Pak and Fumiko under government scrutiny. In September 1923, the Japanese government therefore made a number of arrests, mostly Koreans, on limited evidence, and among those arrested were Pak and Fumiko.

After lengthy judicial proceedings, Fumiko and Pak were convicted of high treason for attempting to obtain bombs with the intention of killing the emperor or his son. They were both sentenced to life in prison, however Fumiko allegedly committed suicide in her cell in 1926.

Here is a short excerpt from one of Fumiko's interrogations while imprisoned (text by Max Res from theanarchistlibrary.org):

Q: Your class?

A: A divine commoner.

Q: How are you employed?

A: My job is tearing down everything that currently exists.

My dad's friend's son has a son who is ostensibly on the spectrum. It seems like the kid self-diagnosed, but by the sounds of it it isn't a stretch. What's kind of shitty is I was like okay he spent a lot of time on tiktok and discord and made a connection with some of his own experiences, that's fine. No, apparently he was bullied by other kids and they called him autistic. I imagine it wasn't over a specific behaviour, and kids around him just called anyone "weird" autistic, but still. Kids can be such assholes lol.

Note to self: check a clock before "just one more edible" because at this latitude at this time of year 11pm and 7am outdoor darkness levels are about the same, so when you think it's the former it may be the latter and you may not have realized that you just spent the last 8 hours crashed on the couch while the TV happily loops through its Farscape playlist and now you need to get breakfast across the street at a 24-hour Tim Hortons because your kitchen's drywall is getting redone by the landlord and you can't really make use of it until tuesday so you need to shower and dress now and be back home before the edible kicks in properly.

This is going to be an interesting day. Good thing I have no responsibilities today.

Gave up my seat at a coffee shop to a mother and son and moved over to another section with a quiet little nook so I could read gigachad

The mother and son follow me there and sit right beside me, are loud and one keeps clearing their throat and coughing lenin-rage

I'm the most anti-social socialist

Xiaohongshu is making me emotional, according to some of the Chinese users I've had conversations with, there was plenty of toxicity and petty arguing there until all the Americans arrived. Now it's like there are guests and everyone is enjoying the novelty of it, meeting people outside of your bubble really do be something we humans are built to enjoy isn't it

Older games in 4K look so much better than modern games in 4K and a bunch of modern rendering, upscaling, and AA techniques. Like turn down the fidelity a tad and games will just look better. I know technically subsurface scattering generates more realistic skin tones and facial animations, but stylizing faces instead looks better with a lot fewer compute cycles. Like I think we’re just making too many trade offs to add more “detail” that we can’t even see. I don’t even mean can’t see without zooming in, I mean the detail gets lost because the native resolution has to drop so all we see from the fancy stuff they add in is upscale artifacts.

Sorry, I just saw a DLSS transformer model comparison then I played GTAIV in 4K, and GTAIV looks fine, we simply don’t need cyberpunk or Alan wake 2 level of fidelity, especially when that means we run the game at 720p and hope the upscale doesn’t produce a fever dream.

Gonna try to beat REMake today, and finally cross it off my backlog joker-gaming

Edit: you know what? This shit is pretty damn good. It's clunky but I'm getting used to that, and even if the puzzles are a bit silly it's a very compelling game.

Hey y'all! Could still use a hand with rent this month, anything helps! Holler if you need my info.

On a brighter note, starting a new freelance project this week, and my partner hooked me up with a job interview that went really well. Scheduling the final interview next week!

Band stuff is going good, and the Odin Sphere remake on Vita is super fun.

That is all Care-Comrade
