I don't know how common this is, or if it's just psychological, but as soon as I started taking estradiol I began to feel connected to my body for the first time. Like, it wasn't just the meat-sac I lived inside but an actual part of me that I wanted to take care of

Also just holding heavy objects against your chest hurts.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

There's a chance you have to deal with PMS. I deal with it every 24 or so days. I get it worse than my mother and aunt have ever had to deal with it. I experience the following symptoms.

  • Stomach Cramps

  • Diarrhea

  • Migraines

  • Mood Swings

  • Extreme Irritability

Not everyone experiences this nor do they experience it at the level that I do. I hope for the gods that you don't have to experience it like I do. If you do, I highly HIGHLY recommend tracking it so you're not blindsided by it.

Not sure. Midol is by far the most effective. High strength Tylenol also works for me. They won’t cure either, but they’ll make them far more bearable.

Besides the plethora of mental changes:

  • Drier skin, which you probably need to moisturize regularly now.
  • Your eyes can also get drier due to the lack of testosterone.
  • Your skin will also be thinner, which makes it more prone to damage and you will also feel colder.
  • Your genitals might become darker. So don’t be surprised when that happens.
  • Breast growth can be weird sometimes. Like mine started in a ring-shape around my nipples.
  • Muscle loss also affects those controlling your bladder, making you go pee more often (and double that when you’re on spiro).
  • Your body odor will change and become sweeter and less sharp.
  • You will likely have less energy and be more tired than you are right now.

I wish you good luck for your journey. cat-trans

mostly anecdotal but still:

  • not everyone gets this, but you might find your tastes (as in, like your tastebuds) might change - some stuff you might not have liked before you might end up liking

  • hair obviously changes, but hair type can change pretty dramatically for some people - just a result of different chemical signals going to your scalp, as far as I understand it :)

  • make sure you keep up your water and your eating, cos you're gonna need both of those a whole bunch more, especially early on

  • also be prepared to hit things a bunch as you re-adjust to a new shape and centre of gravity over time :P

congrats!! march can't come fast enough trans-heart

Inability to get apply for or renew a US passport.

Hope you're either not in the US, or don't plan on travelling.

That's only if you ever had any legal changes to your gender marker and/or pass so well it confuses whoever's looking at your paperwork.

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

That is correct, good additional details.

So... call it medium to long term side effects.

Spiro can cause dehydration and estrogen apparently has some connections with bowel movements, so if you aren't making sure to stay hydrated and eat well, you can end up stopped up.

Estrogen and spiro seems to have cured my psoriasis
