Hiratsuka Raichō, born on this day in 1886, was an anarchist writer, journalist, political activist, and pioneering Japanese feminist. Her efforts helped legalize Japanese women joining political organizations in 1922.

Upon graduating from university, Hiratsuka founded Japan's first all-women literary magazine, Seitō (青鞜, literally "Bluestocking"), in 1911.

Hiratsuka began the first issue with the words, "In the beginning, woman was the sun", a reference to the Shinto goddess Amaterasu, and to the spiritual independence which women had lost. Adopting the pen name "Raichō" ("Thunderbird"), she began to call for a women's spiritual revolution.

Hiratsuka also founded the New Women's Association with fellow women's rights activist Ichikawa Fusae. It was largely through this group's efforts that the Article 5 of the Police Security Regulations, which barred women from joining political organizations and holding or attending political meetings, was overturned in 1922.

the usa (and uk to a slightly lesser extent) need a cultural revolution that would be vastly more expansive than china's in order to be redeemed

Trying to stop eating so much fast food is hard when i have to commute 45-60 mins in the morning which is typically when I'm the most hungry.

I made it today without hitting a drive through but my stomach is growling so much.

Really makes me realize how much of a baby I am. Oh i can't get my widdle salt and grease fix guess my whole body will start to rebel against me

Kinda annoying how good resources were posted in that Tianenman "im curious" thread but now it's buried under 30 other "im curious" posts.

Today I discovered the amazing thing that is cashew marzipan. Highly recommend if you ever see some (idk if you can find them in the West; on another note: today I finally go to roc-cool, where I'll study for the semester... I'm going to have to hide my power level it seems)

Really trying to be patient with my friend who is booked to play a benefit show for a group providing military aide to Ukraine. He's being an obstinate radlib. Sent Hakim's video about the history of the war, numerous articles, pointed out it's an already lost war and helping militarily will just prolong it and kill more people and this fucker asked if i thought we should do the same for palestine. If the Ukraine surrenders Russia won't genocide them, Russia isn't Israel and Ukraine isn't fucking palestine and it seems the people who want to turn gaza into condos for zionists are the same people aiding Ukraine. What a dense dense guy. If anyone can pretend he's a lib who wandered in here and reply with extra info to send, I'm kinda running on fumes here. I can't pig poop balls the guy and really don't want him doing this.

It’s funny that Trump keeps kind of doing tariffs in the hope the market won’t react one of these times. It’s also funny that no one actually thought he’d do tariffs. Like oh his policies are just one of the things grandpa says a lot don’t worry about it.
