I'm back.

It was a very nice house and the area is quiet and very safe. People have garden decorations in their front yards! That stuff would get stolen in a day here. 5 minute walk to the beach . πŸ™‚

only 3 other people were looking and one of them left very quickly, so 2 other people 🀞

Now I'm off to to typo to get some big diaries and the chem to get lip balm. I have burnt lips πŸ₯Ί

I haven't been out looking at houses for sale in about 30 years. Back then it was primarily newspaper listings of open house times with minimal details and no pictures. The whole process has changed a lot since then.

Zonk.

That is all.

Edit: I just realised Gibson's "welcome home" day and my 10 year sober anniversary are the same day!!!

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

That's a great alignment of special occasions

Good news: the fly that was buzzing around the room is dead.

Bad news: it drowned in my cup of tea.

I dug a hole :)

For the rain gauge post.

I'm very proud of myself.

70cm, so was paranoid was gonna hit a pipe as it's close to the tank / pump.

Interesting thing was seeing the soil horizons. They were textbook all there.

And once again the cheapo manual auger is useful.

Nice one Dale :)

Saturday. Laundry done and out on line - nearly ready to take in again. Shopping still to do. Will indulge in a banh mi from my local bakery on the way home. On second thoughts, shopping can be tomorrow. Banh mi is a must though. They've recently added a roasted mushroom one to their line up. It's yummmmmm.

On another note, this hot weather has magically removed 5 kilos of weight from my person.

Spent three and hours on the beach this morning - feeling properly tired now! Love that feeling!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

Cool. πŸ™‚ The beach definitely invigorates the soul while tiring the body. It's a good feeling.

I seem to have naturally woken up at 7:30 after emerging from some strange dream I don't remember (and it took me a few minutes to work out which day of the week it was. Isn't it amazing how much has to boot up in your brain before anything makes sense?)

My phone was flat, so... I just got out of bed like a normal person and went to the shops across the road for some milk and random things. And now I'm ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. Rather than rolling out at 10am after spending forever on various dopamine hits.

I think I really need to start forcing myself to sleep without my phone. It's insane how much it can consume the start of the day and set the tone. I have a bedside clock and a Kindle, that should be enough...

Marketplace sales back on track today - two boxes of tools gone (and I was able to fit them in my garden cart to move them to the front of the house without killing myself). A few legit seeming offers on another item. But no interest on the stupidly heavy hunk of iron drill press so far.

In other good news I have realised I still have two hard rubbish pickups available to me, and get another two next financial year. So stuff I can't sell/give away I can still get rid of fairly easily. Operation clean-up-before-I-move as going very well.

Edit: other item also sold - my first postal sale over Marketplace. Probably because I usually sell big things And because I am not willing to cut the items to postable size with a hacksaw.

Our wall of east facing windows gives a lovely view but on days like today it's like having a full wall radiator on full blast. I closed the blinds so I'm no longer being broiled alive, but unfortunately that also means that instead of a nice view over the Dandenongs all I can see outside is passing traffic.

Both the bird waters ran dry because I haven’t had the energy to go out there -_- I need to set like a weekly reminder to check it.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

hugs, you are a good person

the birds are grateful for what you manage to do, they are not judgmental

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I love that you do this ❀️

New big journal has been attained and a note book too. πŸ™‚ This will be an art diary where i write all my ideas, write what I do, and what I need to do. Practice, learning, everything. Just everything to do with art. πŸ™‚

I’m not sure if it’s just me but I think Cole’s hasn’t been as generous with their fillings in their hot cross buns based on buying them last time.

I usually get the apple and cinnamon and you usually get your hands sticky from just taking out of the bag and a nice punch of sweetness with how much apple sauce they used.

Didn’t get that last time. :/

Grass fire in Viewbank, which is getting a bit too close to home rn.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Indeed.

Went for a great drive today. Tonight I'm going to go for a nostalgia vibe and watch some 80's anime.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Had to sit in the shower for a while and let the hot water run over. Pain and nausea suck. I have free time but can’t really do anything.

I’m watching paint mixing videos to rest but having seen comments on different ones saying they were fake or edited I found myself watching critically. But it seems to be legit. The colours add up. Could be helpful even though it seems asmr geared

Stupid internet making me suspicious of everything I see

MrsGod: hey I will make dinner tonight if you like.

Me: awesome ! what do you feel like?

MrsGod: BBQ

Me:

I'm going on a picnic night- going to Macbeth in the Botanic Gardens with a friend. I haven't picnicked in yonks.

So I went to fish out my picnic basket this morning, and discovered that my favourite lifter/spatula thing, that's been missing for YEARS, and which I'd given up on (assumed I must've left it somewhere) was in fact hiding in the picnic basket the whole time. This has absolutely made my day.

I've also made a Blackberry & Bay Leaf cake that smells delish, and I get to see a lovely friend, so the play could be rubbish at this point but I'm giving the experience five stars.

The exciting utensil in question

It's just so much better than any of the others I've found. Something about the balance and shape.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Nostalgia film night was a bust. Been sitting in the studio all night.

Goodnight all ❀️

I haven’t had to use my asthma puffer in a while but something about going from hot to cold for a week, now back to hot is setting it off. Same with my hayfever.

I moved a basket Miss Meow likes to nap in, so now she is curled up on the floor having a nap where it used to be.

Someone has perked up a lot and ate almost all of her supper!

Edit: She looked at and followed my finger with a movement of her head!

Goddamn it not even one week and the dishwasher has a problem, tripped the circuit breaker early on in a cycle and now the control board thing is stuck, no matter how long I let it sit with no power to let it rest (30 minutes no dice). It turns on but won't run. Submitted ticket but they won't do shit on the weekend. Meanwhile I don't have hot water because of the shower leak. ARGH!

Does anyone here listen to The Drums? I put on 'Let's Go Surfing' before swimming lessons in the morning.

I remember hearing around the time their first album came out they learnt how to play guitar because their music just wasn't working with synths. Did they continue down the guitar path or did they go back to synths?

Great start to the day, spiderweb right in the face. Mr Woof of course trotts happily underneath all such problems and had no idea what my problem was.
