Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

“My answer yesterday was based on my recollection—or lack thereof—of the details that were posted there,” Gabbard said.

Bitch, we can smell the bullshit 500 miles away and by the way, this makes you sound like a completely incompetent bitch.

Wait before the "Can we just move on" and "It happened, get over it" kick in

Classic bully / abuser tactics. Very predictable.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 3 points 5 days ago

Republicans could shoot a baby on the street and turn around immediately and tell the witnesses "look, it's time to move on, we have to look ahead to the future, and make sure babies aren't putting themselves in these situations"

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Just like they have never moved on from Hillary's non-existent email scandal, we should NEVER move on from this. All this traitors, and any other MAGA Traitor, should be asked about this in every interview, every day. We should beat that dead horse for so long, even we get sick of it.

@barneypiccolo @Prandom_returns probably need to settle on some nice succinct nicknames for everyone involved, a la Sleepy Joe / Lyin' Ted...

Good thing there are screenshots on the internet to refresh her memory.

[–] ef9357@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

If everybody in Trump’s administration is this incompetent and forgetful, the entire admin needs to step aside like Biden did.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 6 days ago

They wouldn't lie to us. /s

[–] chrischryse@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Ah so she’s following MTGs method of pretending to not know lol

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

I have memory problems but I like to think I'd at least remember if I committed treason

[–] BrokenPoet@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

The ODNI staff needs to start putting Prevagen on the table next to the daily brief.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Lock this traitor up. RIGHT NOW!

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 119 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They caught us in the group chat (Wasn’t me)

Saw us sharing all the war stats (Wasn’t me)

Even leaked our secret battle plans (Wasn’t me)

Journo read it with both hands (Wasn’t me)

They saw the intel we’d sent out (Wasn’t me)

Heard the calls to air it all out (Wasn’t me)

Now denials are getting louder (Wasn’t me)

The incompetence is so much clearer!

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 17 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Accidentally invited a reporter to witness our felonious rhymes,

Picture this, I was drunkenly bragging with all my pals in crimes,

How could I forget that I had more than one Goldberg saved?

All this text he was reading there, just shoved right into his face

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago

This has me dying - nice job!

[–] rustyredox@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

This would make for a fun AI redub of the original song vocals.

For the uninitiated:

[–] frazw@lemmy.world 74 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I mean, she has a hugely important job. Leaking details of an attack plan is as bad as it gets but if she can't remember details like this a mere two weeks later, she isn't for for the job either.

How can she make operational decisions if her memory only goes back less than two weeks???

In the normal world everyone on that chat would be fired but we are in Trump world now so everyone just shrugs.

Nixon would never have stepped down if watergate happened in today's world.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 6 days ago

Fired? They should be in fucking prison.

[–] Eatspancakes84@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago

Also, huge scandal breaks out and you don’t check your personal records before giving a response?

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Director of Intelligence includes signal intelligence.

This is some basic, day 1 orientation shit they fucked up.

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 61 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The Untied States is run by people who, upon being caught doing something wrong, say "no, we didnt"

[–] KingOogaBooga@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

The United States is run by a crime syndicate right now sadly.

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago

This whole thing is (yet another) perfect example of the narcissists prayer:

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 48 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The big take away I'm getting from this whole situation is that the powers in charge give so little fucks about the lives of our military that they would risk all of their safety and throw them under the bus just to avoid consequences and avoid record keeping. If you or someone you know is currently in the military, you should be worried.

[–] MCasq_qsaCJ_234@lemmy.zip 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Who will last longer: Tulsi Gabbard or a lettuce?

[–] PixelatedSaturn@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago

This administration is like mafia. They know that nothing bad will ever happen to them, as long as they don't confess to anything.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago
[–] Tower@lemm.ee 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

AKA we all know this is bullshit, but I'm going to backtrack and cover my ass just enough to not catch a perjury charge

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Perjury charge

Lol good one

[–] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 week ago

Plot twist: the Tulsi Gabard in the chat was an Iranian spy instead of the real Russian spy.
