The sun used to be yellow then woke happened and the trans athletes stole the color so now it's white.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago

Lucky one! I got the drain bamage that makes me sad. Maybe I need to damage my brian harder until I get happy?

[–] GoodLuckToFriends 8 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, damn. Are you trying to tell me that the reason I've been slowly getting happier over the last few years is because of COVID/5G-brain-chips/spoon-in-brain-plastic destroying my ability to reason?!?!

There's a common conspiracy that the colour of the sun was changed by chemtrails from a happy yellow ball you could look at directly to a glaring white

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

Teletubbies brain

[–] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

sometimes the damn sun do be too bright but I just thought idk UV intensity varies with solar activity??

[–] grendahlgrendahlgen@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

Damn that is really stupid. You can't turn yellow light back into white without adding more light I think. A chemical would only further remove parts of the spectrum.

I honestly don't know if this is COVID or microplastics

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Or heat, PFAS, stress, microplastics, etc.

It's a shitty wheel of fortune where it's all bankrupt.

As atmospheric CO2 levels increase, indoor CO2 levels increase many times faster.

1000 ppm isn't uncommon, and at those levels we can measure cognitive decline.

[–] glingorfel@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

I got a co2 reader for measuring covid risk and am constantly shocked at how quickly spaces blast past 1000

[–] varmint@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Okay explain this one to me. Is this because of people looking at the eclipse?

[–] Real_User@hexbear.net 35 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

There was (or i guess is?) a trend on the internet of people making videos talking about how the sun isn't the same color as it was during their childhood. The implication being that the government is secretly changing the sun or something idk. It's not big where I'm from, instead people around here make posts about how the fog is different now.

[–] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 34 points 3 weeks ago

huey-wut this has gotta be one of the dumbest conspiracy theories I've ever heard

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

@gork is the fog different now?

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They're turning the damned fog GAY

[–] context@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

they're turning the frogs gay and the fogs gray!

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 12 points 3 weeks ago

It depends on where you live.

[–] Riffraffintheroom@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Our perception of colour does change as we age because our eye lenses yellow.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

Oh so that's the reason for eye bleach!

[–] Sinisterium@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, I still remember how vibrant blue the sky used to be and how golden the grass in autumn was.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My perception of color is very slightly different in each eye and I never thought to look up why that might be the case, this might explain it

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

After googling it it's probably just cone cells not having a perfectly uniform distribution, which is a weird and cool thing to think about its effects on perception

Also it's wild how much people's anecdotes lean towards the same "left eye cool right eye warm" layout

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

the fog thing sounds like it can be explained by the switch to LED streetlights

[–] varmint@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

Oh good. I thought it was eye damage but this is much worse

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 33 points 3 weeks ago

Long COVID causes permanent brain damage.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

which scp is this?

Is it possible some of this has to do with climate change? Has our atmospheric condition changed enough to be perceptable as a shift in the Suns light?

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

The way cameras and all light sensors work depends on the sun's light not really changing. Our definition of pure white light actually is based on the mix of different wavelengths we get from the sun. If the sun's light was changing, you'd see any daylit scenes with some new tint.

Edit: That being said, it is objectively true that atmospheric pollutions affect sunlight. It's a big part of why sunsets look like sunsets. The reason we can dismiss the theory that the sun used to be yellow and it's now white is that our whole notion of white light was always defined by the sun. It's the ISO standard for light and lighting^[https://www.nfi.edu/iso/] ^[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_illuminant#Illuminants_B_and_C].

Wow I am sure that the virus known to cause "brain fog" had nothing to do with it!

[–] MetalMachine@feddit.nl 3 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Is it that or is it that we learned to search to find answers more efficiently and with less words?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 weeks ago

Efficiently asking stupid questions, faster than ever!
