When it comes to the bloodthirsty ghouls chomping at the bit to invade Iran, I do take some solace in the War Nerd's assertion that an attempt to invade Iran would probably end in a humiliating defeat for the US because all their important shit is on a central plateau surrounded by miles and miles of impassable mountains and the entirety of it is bristling with more missiles than even the US has in its stockpile

He pointed out that Delta Force's attempt to rescue the Tehran hostages had to abort almost immediately because their helicopters got so fucked up by sandstorms and other weather on the approach that 3 were not fit for combat by the time they established a landing. (As they departed one of them crashed into a refueling aircraft and it killed eight of the servicemen. The Ayatollah seized on it for propaganda and declared it divine intervention to protect their new government.)

So they can want to invade Iran all they want but Iran is more than capable of at least making it so fucking expensive that it's not worth it. They've already shown they can control access to the Gulf if push comes to shove and they'd have plenty of support from regional allies.

Idk much about Iran's air defenses, but the past decades of imperialist aggression seems to show the ONLY thing we can do militarily is bomb the shit out of civilians. From the little I've heard that doesn't sound like it would be effective against Iran unless America loosed the atomics.

I wonder what part of their focus groups decided that the Dems should try to be more belligerent than Trump. This is the kind of line that will appeal to 4 columnists and some of the less intelligent military people who don’t understand what an absolute clusterfuck a war with Iran would be.

Btw, has anyone made the Dorito taco shell thing with trump yet? Slap that on a shirt and libs will buy it like hotcakes.

OK we need to get this made immediately and get our piece

It's just an "appeal to hypocrisy." Libs love eating up the whole "GOP postures as tough but won't escalate militarily against ________" act.

Israel wants to do a war with Iran. Chuck Schumer is motivated by Zionism.

[–] Lavender@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I knew that, but it's just wild to me that of all the things going on in the US and all of the things to criticize Trump over, Schumer and his party decide instigating shit with a country who hasn't done anything to the US would be a productive use of their time and resources.

The point is to continually saber-rattle so that the 'defense' industry always has justification for funding and therefore will fund his campaign and back him in DC. A quick reminder that the DC subways literally have Raytheon ads in them, you can't even go to a dive bar without running into a lobbyist for defense contractors. Never underestimate the amount of influence they have.

Don’t you know that the average voter is chomping at the bit to send their kids to die in an invasion of Iran?

What's the whole TACO thing? Why are libs calling him a taco now??

[–] dead@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Here's the origin video. On May 28, a White House reporter asked Trump about Wall Street traders using the term TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) to describe his tariff policy. The acronym is meant to mean that Stock Traders shouldn't fear Trump's tariff threats because he always cancels the tariffs out of fear. Trump gave an unusually long 2 minute answer to the reporter. Chuck Schumer is now using the term to try to taunt Trump into war with Iran.

They're making fun of him for not crashing the economy? That's our job.

[–] Beaver@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

They can't even use it correctly. It's the "TACO principle", not a nickname.
