Unbelievably offensive person; I can't imagine what PoC have to go through.
I recall reading an article and seeing some vids by folks about how doctors are less likely to believe black people about the pain they're experiencing, believing instead it's a ploy to secure drugs. Honestly not enough people talk about this; it's swept under the rug.
How is anyone able to get through medical school if they’re that brainless?
doctors have the capacity to be just as astoundingly ignorant as anyone else, unfortunately. it's also VERY common
quoting an article here. cw: medical racism
“Black people’s nerve endings are less sensitive than white people’s.” “Black people’s skin is thicker than white people’s.” “Black people’s blood coagulates more quickly than white people’s.”
These disturbing beliefs are not long-forgotten 19th-century relics. They are notions harbored by far too many medical students and residents as recently as 2016. In fact, half of trainees surveyed held one or more such false beliefs, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Science. I find it shocking that 40% of first- and second-year medical students endorsed the belief that “black people’s skin is thicker than white people’s.” emphasis mine.
Not going to wade into the comments section on that one.
Here's a summary of a normal person's reaction to that comment section:
I am the filth man and I will wade through the cesspool. If only someone would provide me with an xcancel link 😔
Sorry, I usually remember to include an xcancel link but I was pretty angry; I added one to the post
No worries lol, thats so real
You're brave I will give you that.
It seems all is good in the world and I am better for having witnessed it. Other than 2 people calling it a psyop/skit the comments are mostly POC saying he should sue or sharing their own experiences with racism in the medical setting.
Better than I thought at least. You get the medal of freedom for your sacrifice.
as someone who has spent a lot of time both in the ER and at the regular doctor, the way non-white people are treated by medical staff is frequently blood-boiling. black people get treated like fucking criminals. people who speak english as a second language get treated like particularly dim children. it's genuinely ghastly, and that's before class enters the picture.
death to EVERY COP
Hope he sues the absolute shit out of them for medical discrimination. I don't know why, but some nurses are the biggest fucking chuds.
I wish I could find a source for this video
