The man is in a HOSPITAL, and he's being accused of being drunk because he's out of it; the man says he's been in a car accident and has a concussion and would like to be treated for it. These three people around him are treating him like he's a liar and a drunk; the nurse insults him as well with a childish insult of 'drunky mcdrunkpants' and the moment he responds with a similar retort the two cops act as though he was way out of line! He's refusing a breathalyzer because of course he is; it's insulting! When the breathalyzer is fully charged (which I didn't even know was a thing), he finally consents to being checked, they check and guess what? Not drunk! And they're all shocked and the nurse even thinks it must still need to be switched on! And then they accuse him that he could still have different drugs in his system! Even the other cop immediately realizes they messed up and drags his partner, who still wants to disbelieve the guy, out.

You know where I've seen this similar level of people mistreating another and not brooking any kind of response? With Asian people; I've seen videos of Asian people who get attacked, and then the moment they fight back the white people interject themselves to stop him! I've seen a video of an Asian person who was having motorcycle stolen, who tried to stop the guy before he could drive off and the white people around him immediately grabbed him!

I hate these kinds of people so damn much! I am so grateful for China's rise and Western powers being left in the dirt!

EDIT: Sorry folks, I forgot the alt link:

Unbelievably offensive person; I can't imagine what PoC have to go through.

I recall reading an article and seeing some vids by folks about how doctors are less likely to believe black people about the pain they're experiencing, believing instead it's a ploy to secure drugs. Honestly not enough people talk about this; it's swept under the rug.

How is anyone able to get through medical school if they’re that brainless?

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

doctors have the capacity to be just as astoundingly ignorant as anyone else, unfortunately. it's also VERY common

quoting an article here. cw: medical racism

“Black people’s nerve endings are less sensitive than white people’s.” “Black people’s skin is thicker than white people’s.” “Black people’s blood coagulates more quickly than white people’s.”

These disturbing beliefs are not long-forgotten 19th-century relics. They are notions harbored by far too many medical students and residents as recently as 2016. In fact, half of trainees surveyed held one or more such false beliefs, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Science. I find it shocking that 40% of first- and second-year medical students endorsed the belief that “black people’s skin is thicker than white people’s.

emphasis mine.

Here's a summary of a normal person's reaction to that comment section:

fash-bash fash-bash fash-bash fash-bash fash-bash

I am the filth man and I will wade through the cesspool. If only someone would provide me with an xcancel link 😔

Sorry, I usually remember to include an xcancel link but I was pretty angry; I added one to the post

It seems all is good in the world and I am better for having witnessed it. Other than 2 people calling it a psyop/skit the comments are mostly POC saying he should sue or sharing their own experiences with racism in the medical setting.

Better than I thought at least. You get the medal of freedom for your sacrifice.

as someone who has spent a lot of time both in the ER and at the regular doctor, the way non-white people are treated by medical staff is frequently blood-boiling. black people get treated like fucking criminals. people who speak english as a second language get treated like particularly dim children. it's genuinely ghastly, and that's before class enters the picture.

death to EVERY COP

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Hope he sues the absolute shit out of them for medical discrimination. I don't know why, but some nurses are the biggest fucking chuds.
