Duck! I'd say it's my favorite meat in general

[–] mintiefresh@piefed.ca 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Does fish count? I like fish.

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I'd say fish counts, but it's too broad a category. It's kind of as if you said your favourite meat were "mammal" or "bird".

Personally, I think I'd pick salmon as my favourite.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Fresh caught panfish is where it's at, deepfry those filets in some beer batter and I'm in heaven

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Yes. Salmon's probably my favorite fish. I eat a lot of sardines, though because they're lower in mercury and such.

As long as sea creatures count, I’m going with scallops.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I love scallops so much. Usually broiled, but I'll occasionally treat myself to scallop sashimi. Not sure which I like better.

Well, they're certainly not fruits and vegetables, are they?

[–] razorcandy@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

When I still ate meat, I preferred game meat like venison.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

I was vegan for almost four years, only breaking it once sometime in the middle, for a meal of venison a coworker prepared for us.

Had deer bacon for breakfast and will be cooking deer burgers for dinner!

I like alligator on occasion too when I come across it. There's a creative taco stand that has gator tacos that are pretty good.

Goat! It's the greatest of all time! Hehe. The only goat I ever eat is goat curry from a place down the street from me, but dang if it isn't the tastiest dish ever! https://hotmillion.ca/ (Not AI, not affiliated with them, just a fan.)

We use ground turkey at home in a lot of our cooking. I like!

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Ground turkey is a really great replacement for beef. But I like making a whole turkey or turkey breast every quarter or so.

Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, turkey stock, turkey gravy.

One of the best meats I've had were reindeer and horse, smoked and then browned in butter. Visit Lapland if you get the chance.

Ok, I was joking with the fish ain't meat post. But beans really aren't meat.

Have you ever seen beans move on their own?

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net -2 points 1 month ago

If your definition of meat is limited to "animal flesh", I don't know what to tell you. I'm just gonna make myself a peanut butter sandwich.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What kind are your favorite? I've been making a lot of fava bean recipes lately

[–] razorcandy@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How do you like to use fava beans?

Not the original commenter, but I like baking white beans (the most common kind available where I live) and using them in stews. Occasionally I’ll buy tinned black beans to put in burritos.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Ful mudamas for the fava beans is my favorite. White beans in soup and stews are the best too

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 month ago

Black beans are definitely the favorite, I eat a lot of Mesoamerica cuisine. But cannelini beans are great in soups, chickpeas work with everything, and red beans are also great in certain preparations.

[–] robolemmy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

With a nice chianti?

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Lobster. Others’ mentions of goat, and duck are also right up there.

[–] JubilantJaguar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Mincemeat. It isn't what you think it is. It's better.

[–] theywilleatthestars@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Eel, sadly it's not ecologically sustainable

[–] Doublenut@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago
[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Goat with duck as honorable mention, lobster is trash I don't eat anything out of the sea.
