Please put an NSFW tag on this. I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masturbating. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men masturbating together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this post NSFW

Been a while since I've seen this one

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 65 points 11 months ago

That’s called grass. There are also some mushrooms in the grass.

Underappreciated comment.

[–] Thann@lemmy.ml 26 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They look more like a fungus than a plant

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Is fungus differentiated from plants? Honest question, not a smartass one.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 46 points 11 months ago (3 children)

The four kingdoms of eukaryotes are:

  • Animals
  • Plants
  • Fungi
  • Protists

So, taxonomically, plants are as different from fungi as they are from animals.

Above that is the domains of life:

  • Eukaryotes (all of the above)
  • Bacteria
  • Archaea

Then above that:

  • Cellular life (all of the above)
  • Viruses
  • Viroids
  • Obelisks (Potentially. Just announced last month.)
[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 11 months ago

Wild. Thanks for the terminology. I'm about to go down a Google rabbit hole now.

[–] Thann@lemmy.ml 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And then you got yer prions, which are just self-replicating proteins, and not considered living, but worth mentioning because they kinda act like it.

[–] Shou@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They don't self-replicate. They interact with well-folded versions of the protein. Causing them to unfold and aggregate into plaques.

[–] Thann@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago

yeah, so they are similar to viruses in that they cant self-replicate because they need something very specific to attach onto to replicate.

Got any links on obelisks? Can't find anything other than articles on Egyptian sandstone monuments

[–] Gumbyyy@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes - they are completely different.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I hope to god they at least are still considered flora?

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 10 points 11 months ago (2 children)

They are not, mushrooms are more closely related to animals

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 11 months ago (2 children)

So that's why they scream and beg for their lives while I'm cooking.

[–] GoosLife@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Yes that's what animals and mushrooms have in common.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 4 points 11 months ago

This is the reality, you're making them suffer. You monster

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Which is a fact that for some reason I will never be fully okay with.

[–] HeyMrDeadMan@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Stinkhorns. There's an entire family of stinky dick mushrooms.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Thanks! I finally got an ID on some wild looking fungi I found last month!

[–] Taniwha420@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I figured. With a shape like that they could only be Phalloides.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago

Phallusium chodecum

[–] Tangent5280@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Penis Envy psychedelic mushroom?

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

No, definitely not.

As an aside never eat mushrooms unless you know for certain what they are.

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago
[–] ouRKaoS 9 points 11 months ago

Bellend mushrooms

[–] MeDuViNoX@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 months ago

I remembered Mr. Garrison's book from South Park and his book "Penis Valley".

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 0 points 11 months ago

Everyone making penis comparisons really just reveal that they have tiny micro penises.
