Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

It said the 62-year-old had died from a "self-inflicted" wound on 9 March and police were investigating.

Pete did him in like he did in all those dogs. Now the door plugs on all Max Jets will implode at 30k feet.

feels like these things are getting way less subtle lately

[–] KimJongFun@hexbear.net 44 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Remember when they killed the guy who testified in that case about a cop murdering a dude in his own home by shooting him in the fucking mouth? Pepperidge Farms remembers

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 20 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I remember this but not enough to find it. drop a link?

This cnn article.

Witnesses flagged down Dallas police officers around 10:30 p.m. local time Friday and directed them to Brown, who was lying in the parking lot of his apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body, police said.

Brown was taken Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. He was positively identified by the medical examiner Sunday, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver, four-door sedan speed away from the parking lot.

But there are no detailed descriptions of the suspect.

Brown “was ambushed at his apartment complex as he got out of his car and (was) shot at close range,” attorney Lee Merritt wrote in a Facebook post Saturday night. Merritt represents the Jean family.

He said at the time a medical examiner told him Brown had been shot in the mouth and chest.

Thinking about how everyone and their mother jumped to say Navalny was murdered despite there being literally zero evidence other than vaguely suspicious circumstances and questionable motivation.

In this case there is both clear motivation and painfully suspicious timing.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 64 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Also, a corpse with a gunshot wound…

Navalny’s death appears to have been natural or at least a very subtle method

Well he should’ve been

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 78 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Damn why did Putin push him out of a window?!

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 56 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

libs will surely jerk themselves raw over this guy killed for corporate interests just like they did for the other guy recently killed for corporate interests (russian)

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 49 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Navalny was the pro-corporate interest candidate. He wasn’t killed for corporate interests, if he was killed it was for treason and betraying the state and people

[–] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 48 points 7 months ago

And notably, not even Ukraine is entertaining speculation that he was murdered.

It said the 62-year-old had died from a "self-inflicted" wound on 9 March and police were investigating.

Even BBC is skeptical enough to use scare quotes.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 37 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Murder was in fact a fairly uncommon event in Ankh-Morpork, but there were a lot of suicides. Walking in the night-time alleyways of The Shades was suicide. Asking for a short in a dwarf bar was suicide. Saying “Got rocks in your head?” to a troll was suicide. You could commit suicide very easily, if you weren’t careful.

Add 'whistleblowing' to this list.

In Bad Country, people get murdered for speaking out against the ~~government~~ corporations.

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 22 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Lets be honest. the US government is like 5 or 6 corporations in a trenchcoat.

[–] nemoTheCatfish@hexbear.net 20 points 7 months ago (6 children)

obviously an-caps are dipshits but how do they not realize that this fact entirely destroys their entire political platform? the government is bad because it gets in the way of corporations! my friend, this government is corporations.

We don't have news anymore, just propaganda that is blatantly obvious as a flex on the powerless

[–] Tunnelvision@hexbear.net 59 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That’s crazy. All this bullshit is very obviously because Boeing is cutting corners. If you work in aerospace manufacturing and you make/check something out of spec and a plane goes down for it and they tie it back to you, there’s a good chance you’re gonna do time for it. Big incentive to not fuck around on the job. These executives don’t even live in the same world as the rest of us they’re just gonna kill this guy without a second thought and they’re gonna do it so sloppily it’s like they’re not even trying to hide it.

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 28 points 7 months ago

they’re gonna do it so sloppily it’s like they’re not even trying to hide it.

It being sloppy works as a way to warn other potential whistleblowers, while maintaining plausible deniability

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 53 points 7 months ago

he shouldn't have violated boeing's NAP ancap-good

[–] Ocommie63@lemmygrad.ml 48 points 7 months ago

Free country btw

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 46 points 7 months ago

There will be no investigation of Boeing executives or major share holders.

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 43 points 7 months ago

Whistleblower for what?

Making flights more fun and exciting by having doors that fall off mid-flight? ancaptain

How is that a problem? it sounds like good clean gilded age fun to me!

porky-happy wheeeeeee!

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 41 points 7 months ago

So anyway I just got my 737-Max stickers in the mail and I don't know if this makes them more or less tasteful. Good time to put one on my car or bad time?

[–] bazingabrain@hexbear.net 41 points 7 months ago (2 children)

So is being subtle just, not something that exists anymore?

All right, I'm definitely not flying in Boeings anymore. That's some gangster ass shit.

Can you check a plane's manufacturer when buying a ticket? Of course, they may just switch at the last minute.

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 19 points 7 months ago

I am curious, what would be the point of killing him besides payback?

Like the info is out there now, but I'd bet my kidney it won't lead to anything, no regulations or fines or nothing, if anything killing him just leads to more attention to this which is anything increases the chances the neolib establishment will feel compelled to at least pretend to do something about it.

I've honestly wondered this about a lot of things. Like I sometimes wonder why they bothered killing Epstein, he could have shown video of Trump and Clinton in the act at trial and it's not like it would have resulted in either of them going to jail. I doubt Trump would have even lost any support, the two of them might as well have just admitted they fucked kids, it's not like it matters. Let the piggy squeal nobody can do anything about it.

It's to instill terror. It sets an example to others that might come forwards with more.

There are a lot of workers who will know more about this but every single one of them will be wary that saying anything will result in this now.

As a warning to any other would-be whistleblowers is my first guess, kinda like what they did to Karen Silkwood.

Last week, he gave a formal deposition in which he was questioned by Boeing's lawyers, before being cross-examined by his own counsel. He had been due to undergo further questioning on Saturday. When he did not appear, enquiries were made at his hotel.

Thats why

[–] idkmybffjoeysteel@hexbear.net 26 points 7 months ago

Pathetic reporting from slimey media removed as usual neglects to report the death as suspicious when it very clearly is. In a just world, this would result in an immediate investigation, but in this world, the police know who did it and they are protecting them.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 25 points 7 months ago

Boeing makes a lot of shit for the defense industry and drives a lot of weapons exports as well. Could see the spooks having a hand in this but then again I blame the cia for everything 🤷

[–] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 22 points 7 months ago

I'm not sure that's going to stop their airplanes from disintegrating

[–] HelltakerHomosexual@hexbear.net 22 points 7 months ago
