All those years of being exposed to neoliberal elites and she's seemingly made it through. You love to see itsicko-wholesome

Seeing first hand how useless it was to talk to them even when they patiently smiled at her, letting her do her thing, could have two outcomes. Either she deludes herself in thinking that she's on the brink of changing everything, or she realises she needs to make threats

She was always making threats. "If you choose to fail us we will never forgive you"

[–] lil_tank@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Her forgiveness isn't something they care about, the real threat is guns and gulags

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah that's implied.

It's a gen z version of we ask no quarter for we will give no quarter. When our time comes we will not apologize for the terror.

Always said her trajectory was toward communist. You get a sense for this shit. That same trajectory has been visible across the entire climate left, give them time and help them along in a friendly way, the ones genuinely looking for a solution will develop leftwards while the ones that are just performative will stay liberal, you could always see Greta was completely sincere about her desire to save the planet.

It wasn't helped by the fact that she became a target of the right for bullying. When that shit happens it swings people left very hard in a "fuck you then I'm allied with whoever wants you dead" response, that response is even harder with teenagers.

Ditto. My immediate response to news about her was that she was naive to think capitalism would let her implement climate solutions, even if she knows what they are, but they just kept holding her up as a hero. Speaking from my own experience with autism and special interests, I was confident that the neoliberal response of amplifying her message without acting on it was only going to piss her off immensely and result in her looking more closely at how capitalism prevents the implementation of solutions.

"How dare you" all but confirmed she already was or was about to become radicalised.

Damn I didn't have a lot of faith but she smoked my predictions that she was a useful tool.

Hell yeah

The effort to bring her into the pantheon of neoliberal heroes was crazy. They had her speak at the UN and meet with so many politicians, and so clearly tried to get her on their side. But she actually has values, so she couldn't become another prop for them. Fucking based.
