You all don’t realize he pedals it

[–] colmear@discuss.tchncs.de 55 points 7 months ago (2 children)

That would be a great idea. I mean, I am more than twice as fast on a bike than by foot and I can drive more than 10 times as far. Just imagine what Flash could accomplish with a bike

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 17 points 7 months ago

Now I’m picturing Flash pedalling his mountain bike to punch Darkseid in the face

[–] KoalaUnknown@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago (3 children)

I would assume the rubber and maybe even medal would all melt. Not to mention how hard it would be to control.

[–] colmear@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Well, in the tv series his shoes start burning if he doesn’t use his specific flash shoes. So surely he needs a special bike.

About handling you might be right, but I can’t image running at speeds faster than sound without crashing into everything either

He has a suit that doesn’t melt to his skin. If his people can make a costume, they can make a bike …. Trying to imagine the precision you’d need on those bearings

[–] BugleFingers@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I was under the impression he was surrounded by the speed force which drops certain characteristics of physics. Things like friction from wind don't apply to him and I'd guess his suit too?

He needs a bike with like 1000 gears

[–] Starkstruck@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

something something batman makes him a super special bike that can withstand his speeds

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 14 points 7 months ago

He moves it from location to location, piece by piece.

[–] Glowy@lemmy.world 58 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Think about doing an escort quest where the NPC walks at 25% your speed and how irritating it is to have to keep waiting for them. Now imagine the NPC moves at %0.0025 or your speed instead. If he ever wants to travel with any companions, this might be more to protect his sanity than anything.

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

He could just pick up the npc. Not like he's never been shown to accelerate mere mortal fleshbags to relativistic speeds almost instantaneously.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 16 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I don't read comics but I've hung out with enough comic nerds to pick up secondhand that the speed force and power cosmic are just straight bullshit. They do whatever. Think you found a problem or plot hole? Nah, magical powers specifically address that. Because magic.

[–] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

A wizard did it.

The bike's just for impressing the ladies. That's the greatest superpower of them all!

[–] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 21 points 7 months ago (2 children)

And people say Batman doesn't have any powers

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Nah, he's rich. That's a real superpower (as we see in the real world far too often)

Chicks love the car.

[–] The_Tired_Horizon@lemmy.world 35 points 7 months ago (1 children)

In the comic he loses his/the speedforce. Could imagine it was from that, but deep down I know it was just a toy companytrying to sell parents junky toys.

I dunno. I think this is good for Flash. To paraphrase SolidJJ:

Flash: So, to you, I'm moving faster than the speed of sound, circling the globe. But to me, that's walking. Just. Walking. For like a year.

[–] Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I'm not understanding. So for the Flash, he's bored of walking and driving a motorcycle is much more entertaining?

[–] papertowels@lemmy.one 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's taking the elevator in a two story building.

Maybe he's physically tired, and is ok getting somewhere slow.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 4 points 7 months ago

Or maybe he doesn't feel like eating a dozen honey buns and a bunch of pizzas and surge to get his caloric intake.

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 30 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I mean, he probably still gets tired

[–] couch1potato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 30 points 7 months ago

He gets two tired

[–] ScruffyDucky@lemmy.world 28 points 7 months ago

He needs it to get to Chipotle when he's very low on energy

[–] Drinvictus@discuss.tchncs.de 27 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Shadow the hedgehog also has a bike. Although Shadow's bike is dope as fuck

[–] Vilian@lemmy.ca 8 points 7 months ago

so not useless

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 22 points 7 months ago

For when he needs to go slower.
Like Eskimos use refrigerators to keep their food from freezing.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 17 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You reminded me that when I was 6 I had a dream where Superman showed me his new car.

(Not a car for Clark Kent, a SuperMobile.)

[–] wabafee@lemmy.world 16 points 7 months ago (1 children)
[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 10 points 7 months ago

I've seen the super speed running effect in the movie. The bike is slower, but at least the other superheroes won't take the piss when he uses it.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 9 points 7 months ago

I'm sure his legs get tired from all that running.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

I don't need to force my dog to pull me around in my red wagon. It's just fun.

[–] HBK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 7 months ago (2 children)
[–] The_Tired_Horizon@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Its where he put the kids aint it? 😅

[–] ScruffyDucky@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I don't think so because it doesn't have FREE SPEED written on it

do the velocities add up? If so there is still some mild gain.

[–] JoShmoe@ani.social 7 points 7 months ago

A more appropriate bike would have Delorean capabilities

[–] MonkderDritte@feddit.de 7 points 7 months ago

Can't even go offroad.

All that runnin' around has gotta get tiring after a while though, no?

[–] Jimmycakes@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

What do you think his shoes are made of though
