Never played XCOM I take it
X-COM taught me as a child that the idea of "there's only 1 bad guy left how bad can it be?" is a question that is answered in tears.
Before I played an XCOM game, there was Fire Emblem.
“Last enemy has only a 47% chance to hit and 2% chance to Crit? I’ve got this.”
The new one still does that lol. Move shotgunner across the map to flank the lone enemy left, as he passes a civilian, time freezes as the camera zooms in and the civilian begins to transform

One of my favorite moments as a child was trying to shoot a Super Mutant in the groin, watching him shrug it off and shouting that he "Lacked that human weakness!"
