I gotta be honest, I think this is some irony-protesting. The person who made that sign is being critical of the lib protests and might even fit in on this here bear site.

I've actually told people irl about your Darby in conversations about kitty quirks. Specifically that she not only likes to sleep in the sink (not unheard of for a cat) but that she likes to do so with water running on her.

Anyway, have a happy birthday ya cute lil wirdo cat!

kitty-birthday-sad (only not sad).

On fennec/firefox for android at least, just tapping off to the side of pause/play button (but still on the video) makes the button disappear without effecting the video. Mildly annoying to have to press play then immediately tap to the side, but its a workaround.

Me too. The event that birthed the newsmega itself. It's honestly kinda sobering to think of how much I've learned about geopolitics and the world in general from this weekly thread and the people who contribute to it.

First thing I noticed was how instantaneous/simultaneous the sound was with the visuals. There should be a small but noticeable delay for the sound to travel, given the distance the viewer is from the building. Obviously audio can be edited even in a real video, but it would be an odd thing to do.

If an instance is making it more difficult to maintain a safe space for marginalized people on hexbear, that's when it needs to be axed. But it seems to me that a lot of these "yes, defederate!" arguments are more just about how obviously wrong and bad the mods and admins of these other instances are. And yes, they are wrong and bad, they're fucking disgusting. But by cutting ourselves off from ever being able to even see the shit they post, are we helping hexbear be a better place, or are we only making it so our correct analyses and perspectives are seen by even fewer people (including lurkers and potential comrades on the sidelines)? I'm not saying I have the answer to that question, I do lean more towards it being the latter, but maybe I'm wrong.

The most interesting threads to me are often the ones where hexbears, lemmygraders, and some .ml's are schooling the libs and tearing down the fash. When we defederate from the instances where said libs and fash think they won't get any pushback, we not only make it so those threads don't happen for us anymore (and I respect those who prefer that, dgmw), it also makes it so all that disgusting shit goes more unopposed on the rest of the "lemmyverse." It also makes it so our comrades on .ml, those who do speak up to counter the lies, are more likely to get dogpiled into silence without hexbears even knowing, let alone being able to come to their aid in the posting trenches.

It looks like this is already a landslide for "yes" but I still just have to say that I feel like by doing that we're just making it easier for them and (while it might seem parodoxical) worse in the long run for us, for reasons similar to what others like @Babs@hexbear.net and @SevenSkalls@hexbear.net already said elsewhere in this thread.

I tend to be the same way. More often than not bosses end up feeling like a chore I have to get through so I can get back to exploring. Some bosses are really unique and enjoyable but they're rare and even then they sometimes feel like they interrupt the flow of a game. Getting stuck on one where I'm banging my head against a wall trying to beat it, that's just not fun for me at all. It can detract from a game so much as to even ruin the whole experience.

I completely agree with you and this is a spot on OP and comment, but just a little nit to pick... my hackles raise when I see "mutt" used as an insult. I'm sure I don't have to explain why a word that means "mixed breed" has had a problematic past. I know you didn't mean it that way, just trying to point out in a friendly way that all of us, myself included, would do well to examine our language. heart-sickle

Chat, let me know if im being too pedantic.

Edit:
Also, for what it's worth, I was recently pointing out in one of the threads lamenting the death of .ee how much worse .world is than lemm.ee and that even though we see a lot of idiot libs from .ee due to federation, it is .world that is successfully seeking to be reddit 2.0 and in doing so has amplified everything wrong with reddit-logo liberalism.

We arguably ARE the most lgbtq instance that isn't specifically about lgbtqia+ (it is about radical leftism which is inseperable from lgbtqia+ rights and liberation). And nah, my fidel-wut reaction is 100% appropriate here. What's more, hexbear is known for taking long and difficult looks into the mirror, to a degree liberal instances could never hope to do. Our resolute dedication to rooting out and correcting misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and even just plain unrecognized privilege is well known and easily confirmed by looking at our history. Whatever lgbtq instance defederated from us was not because of homophobia or transphobia or anything like that, but rather their unwillingness to address the chasers infesting their community and our subsequent unwillingness to tolerate that kind of behavior and keep it from eroding the safe space that has been built through hard work and the dedication especially of the many trans people that make up our community. Trying to paint hexbear as anything other than in complete full support of lgbtqia+, which the vast majority of us are, is absurd and insulting.

Yeah, the instances that are most dedicated to fighting fascism and providing a safe space for lgbtqi+ and other marginalized groups are the "toxic" ones. Those are the instances that need to be contained so you can block them, huh? HMMMMMM....

Yvw. Yeah I'm really glad jumble (who is a user here btw) has made this collection of premium feeds. There are some great podcasts I never would have known about if it weren't for jumble and other podcasts I already knew (like TrueAnon) that would be a much bigger pain to listen to their patreon episodes.

As far as SoulSeek goes, I'm not sure if you caught my other comment, but user podking is pretty consistent I think. Has been when I checked, but I usually don't have much reason to, given jumble's collection. But jumble.top does sometimes go down for a while and it looks like American Prestige (a left-lib podcast) has just recently banned jumble maddened so at times SoulSeek remains a necessary backup.

That documentary about Alex Honnold free soloing El Capitan was a giant hoax, actually. He just crawled a really long way on horizontal rock while his crew tilted the cameras.
