I think it's in a bad state and recently blocked it. A space where community members can help each other out in crisis is great, and while it sometimes functions like that, it's used as an uregulated fundraising charity just as often.

When we see people asking for hundreds of dollars in donations every month, we need to ask if that's actually within the scope of this site to handle in a safe manner. As it stands, I don't think it is. 100 % of the risks is put on the person donating, as that's the only way we can do it with the resources available, but that's an awful way to do charity.

At the very least, I think the current warning in the comm about posts not being vetted is not clear enough and should explicitly warn users that they might be getting scammed.

I think this is a real problem with a lot of adaptions, but I don't think it applies to Elden Ring.

The way it engages with its story is too uniquely video game-y; you get minimal explanations for everything that happens, and if you want to figure it out you have to search through item descriptions and cross interrogate NPCs then put things together from context clues.

It's a form of storytelling that's impossible to do in a movie, they have to completely change how the story is told or it simply won't work.

The European Union continues to make no diplomatic efforts to find an end to the war, as chief diplomat Kaja Kallas wrote today that the “longer Russia wages war, the tougher our (sanctions) response.”

How are they still threatening someone with sanctions after already doing 17 rounds of it? i-cant Everthing that can damage the Russian war economy has already been done at this point, but I guess they're gonna be real scared when they read about that 18th sanction package.

Reading this just made me sad knowing this guy will spend the rest of his life in a cell

Why is the world like this?

Relatable, people are definitely kinder and more supportive in general, but at the same time I don't think they respect me as much as they did before, if that makes sense.

Even though I knew it was going to happen, it actually shocked me how much less competent people assume you are. It was super apparent when I had a customer facing job that people respected me less and less as I got more feminine.

Even this friend I've known for 5+ years pre-transition now wants to micromanage me every time I have a computer issue, he was never like that before. doggirl-sweat

That is such a gross way to depict the female security guard. The way she clings onto him is way too intimate.

Oh, so the cloud-like thing is what people refer to as seeing the milky way? That makes sense, it's what I thought of as colors. I really want to try seeing it this summer. It's only a ninety minute drive to get to some very low light pollution areas for me.

I don't have a license though, so I need to convince some of my friends to come with me to the middle of nowhere on a cloudless, moonless night. lea-think

I've seen so many people saying similar stuff about seeing the milky way in they sky and I don't understand what it means doggirl-sweat Since we're inside the milky way, isn't that just what we always see when there's stars in the nightsky? I don't get what people refer to when they talk about seeing it.

The article is interesting, but it's obvious they picked the most alarmist, misleading headline possible, where they make it sound like this is likely to explode into a hyper deadly pandemic at any moment.

Both WHO and CDC considers the public health risk from avian flu low, but not non-existent. It's obviously important that these organizations monitor and stay vigilant about diseases like this, but there isn't any reason to believe we're looking at another pandemic or major public health crisis.

Here is the WHO's most recent report, which I really recommend going through if you get anxious from headlines like this: https://www.who.int/publications/m/item/updated-joint-fao-who-woah-public-health-assessment-of-recent-influenza-a(h5)-virus-events-in-animals-and-people_apr2025
