In the last few years, my symptoms have improved in one area (task completion) but have severely worsened in another: short term memory. In fact, it's become so bad that I can't even remember what I just said a moment before 9 times out of 10, not just what others may have said.

How do you deal with remembering things like that?

Writing things down, especially in meetings, is really difficult for me because I end up spending more time typing and less time thinking about what people are saying.

Hauling trash, debris, or brush works way better in a pickup. I want to be able to hose the shit off and not have it inside with me lol But i agree that a van is better than everything else

I'm very conflicted about this. I'd reckon that the majority of us working on these AI and robotics systems do so to try to make the world a better place; so that maybe one day people won't have to slave away in warehouses all day and pee in bottles because they can't take the time to use the bathroom. Those good intentions always get corrupted by corporations and greed. So do we stop trying to push the envelope? Do we not try to make the world a better place for fear that it'll be corrupted? I really just don't know

Yea, Bernie just kicked off an investigation against Novo Nordisk regarding price inflations on medication (over $1000) when it costs ~$300 in Canada and Europe (I'm fudging the figures cause I cant remember). The man's only got so much time in the day

Yea I'm with this guy. Fuck the trolls. Fuck everyone. Show them by proving that you don't need to fit in their system to thrive.

So it should have been carved into a giant lightning bolt since that's what ended up destroying it then? /s

Sounds like the tree was due to be felled. This artist arguably saved the tree by turning into art. While he did oil it to keep it from rotting, he oiled it using a plant based oil safe for proximity to water ways. This sounds like as close to a win as anyone's gonna get in these circumstances

Not to sound like a naïve, brain dead optimist but maybe this is our chance to draw our line in the sand. If Threads falls on its face, it will likely serve as precedence for other companies who think they can use the fediverse for their own gain, no?

As Louis Rossmann says, "never go to war with the internet because you will lose". I'd like to think that the people who make that quote possible are all migrating or have migrated to the fediverse.
