This is what you voted for protest-non-voters. Congratulations!
To us non-Americans this is a really bad look. Did you really do everything you could to prevent this? Anyway, we’re all here and we all have to deal with it now. And really, you / we didn’t start this. The wheels were already set in motion before most of our time. Fascism is the inevitable outcome of capitalism. But we must be the ones to take action and set things right and build a better world.
What are you trying to accomplish?
To congratulate the non-protest-voters on their vote for this!
You can't admit you were wrong then or now. Sigh. But keep blaming them. Go on. Do it.
We are doing it, what did you miss on the previous post?
You and your "but genocide" argument got us here. Yeah, Harris is super flawed and I wouldn't vote her to save my life, BUT THE ALTERNATIVE WAS WHAT WE ARE LIVING NOW. What part of "I will be a dictator" made you think "well that sounds like a good alternative!" ??
And in case it need saying: Yes, genocide is bad, doh! We all know that but it was between someone who wouldn't explicitly criticize Israel for it's actions and the one that said "I will eradicate Palestine" and for some reason you either voted for the latter or didn't vote at all because reasons?
Most of the accounts I had these arguments with before the election magically disappeared from the Internet so it's safe to assume that those were Russian paid shills bit apparently there are enough of you types left who really do practice professional mental gymnastics
If you really really really had wanted that genocide stopped you had voted Harris and then right after her inauguration, you'd paralyze the country in protests until she will.
But noooooo, you preferred this, whatever the hell this is supposed to be.
I hope you enjoyed your last election ever.
Do you have any evidence that "protest voters" had any meaningful impact on the elections? Because all evidence I've seen to date indicates the same voter and election fraud that's put the GOP into power for decades is to blame (purging voter rolls, gerrymandering, arbitrary rejection of postal votes, disenfranchisement)
If you don't have evidence, have you ever considered the whole "Liberals blaming progressives for Trump" is part of the multi-decade PsyOps campaign to turn Liberals against the left, and continue shifting the overton window in normalizing fascism and corporate dictatorship?
Maybe you should stop blaming the citizens who drew a line in the sand at genocide, and start blaming the political class that facilitated genocide, and continue to — perhaps rather surprisingly to liberals? — do absolutely nothing as a fascist dictatorship is implemented by their major corporate donors?
Edit. I'm Australian. Thanks for proving my point though! The liberals of L/politics are identical to the liberals of R/politics, blinded by 80 years of corporate propaganda. Enjoy your fascist dictatorship and civil war!
Exhibit B. Congratulations!
I am an Australian, who has expected American fascism longer than half of you have been alive.
Thanks for proving my point though.
You're getting downvoted and I'm soon to follow, but everything you said is reasonable and it's almost never wrong to ask for evidence. I continue to be surprised at how tightly this community clings to the narrative that non-voters alone decided the election.
I really think that's part of the psy-ops. Just bots everywhere down voting anything supporting unity.
I haven't seen any of the obvious "data science fueled" bot activity on Lemmy that I noticed on Reddit well over a decade ago. These communities are barely 1/10000th the size of Reddit right now, and still 1/100th the size of Reddit from a decade ago. Lemmy is simply not large enough to be worth the effort for PsyOps operations.
The point of PsyOps is to run the campaigns on major "marketplaces of ideas" where they reach as many eyeballs as possible, and then the victims will repeat those narratoves elsewhere. The Cambridge Analytica CEO described it candidly in one of these. Threads on Lemmy are really just examples of the victims disseminating and perpetuating the propaganda. 99% of these comments are real people who genuinely believe the dumb shit they type.
That's entirely possible. I haven't seen any evidence that protest votes had any significant effect on the outcome. Mostly, people seem to have been less motivated in general, as well as widespread voter suppression purging voters from all states. But anyone who is screaming at protest voters for having morals that they refuse to compromise on is not only stupid, but has lost sight of what is virtuous. Empathy is a good thing, and having enough that you cannot support those who support genocide is admirable. Choosing the lesser of 2 evils is also admirable for different reasons. Society needs both. Frothing at the mouth about people not voting for a bad candidate is ridiculous.
Nope, not a psy op. Very real person here that downvotes this horseshit.
PsyOps success story!
Sure thing, bud.
You're the one living in a fascist dictatorship, but I'm sure you know what's best. Neoliberalism has worked out well for you so far!
Yup. You got it.
Corporate propaganda?
You might be surprised to learn there was more than one group at fault for this.
The "I don't like Biden" group should have known better. At least the magats have the excuse of being fully indoctrinated into a cult.
That's why the smaller group is called out. Because they knew better.
1st, gerrymandering has nothing to do with the presidential election. It was obvious from your post you know very little about US elections.
Next, there were 8.2 million fewer votes in 2024 than 2020. All of that loss was on the democratic side. Do you have evidence literally millions of voters were disenfranchised?
Had those missing voters participated in good faith in 2024, Trump would not be president today.
So gerrymandering — which has facilitated the stealing of state elections and influenced state laws for decades, including around the handling of elections, purging of legitimate voters, disenfranchisement, etc — has no effect on federal elections whatsoever?
Please continue to libsplain me on my knowledge of US politics... I'm sure you're able to see the big picture and long term trends; not simply as confidently ignorant as 99% of D's I've dealt with on social media for the last 2 decades. Keep up the stellar work, champ!
Lol, I say one thing and you answer another. Just like you did with the original post. THE TOPIC OF DISCUSSION IS THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, NOT FEDERAL ELECTIONS AS A WHOLE.
If I say it slower, will that help you understand? Quit changing the fucking topic to try and make your point. And as I pointed out, please let me know when you find evidence 8.2M people tried to vote but couldn’t.
Who's a big boy? You are! The fascists don't stand a chance in the face of your unbridled intellect.
Hahahahaha
Such wonderful arguments you present. I’m glad you believe you add so much to this discussion you need to brigade your own fake votes.
Your argument was literally "guilty til proven innocent", you fuckin sociopath.
You are the "white moderate" MLK warned as the greatest threat to civil rights. You are an integral part of the fascist dictatorship.
Literally
The problem with this argument is that it ignores the effects of Covid-19. A not-insignificant number of people who voted in 2020 didn’t vote in 2024 because they had died since then. I did the math once, and it’s buried somewhere in my comment history (I’m at work at the end of my break. I’ll look for it when I’m able to.)
EDIT: Found the comment where I did the math. In the end, over 716,000 people died of Covid in the United States between 2020 and Dec 2024 (the time that comment was written, and the closest I could find date-wise at the time.)
No it doesn’t, or the republican votes would have gone down too. Lol, I was very clear that all of the loss was on the democratic side. Your theory doesn’t hold up.
