someone convince me not to apply to this care home
I donβt want to the old people to be mean to me.Or have to give them sponge baths or change their diapers.
Or potentially have to wear an ugly uniform.
I want an easy job, but there is nothing close by.
You don't want to apply there?
reasons not to
Uh, it can be quite disheartening to see the level of care - people left in dirty diapers for hours to days, pressure sores from not being rotated, dying but no one finds out for 2 days.Old dementia style residents can be hard to redirect. It's hard to tell someone they can't leave even though they really want to and can't understand why they aren't allowed. It can also be a little annoying dealing with wandering in general.
reasons to go?
You do get used to sponge baths and poop and pee fwiw. And naked bodies. I dunno, once you've seen your 10th wrinkly vagina and cock it just stops phasing you. Bodies are just bodies - I once grabbed a dudes testicle cause I thought it was his penis and the person bathing him with me said "oh no, his penis is VERY small" π¬. I wouldn't characterize care work necessarily as easy per se but it does let you make cash without many credentials. For me, old people have been surprisingly good about my gender. I think its cause they literally don't know you can trans your gender, so if you appear even nominally like a girl they'll use the right pronouns and "dear" or "honey" or "miss" or whatever.
Itβs like 50p above minimum wage
Probably more stable maybe more hours than retail though right?
My sister works at one of those places. The old people are mean, you do have to do that shit, a lot of the coworkers sound shit too. Gets harassed a lot. Does not sound like an easy job imo.
I can always quit I guess.
I'd normally agree but you said to talk you out of this
thank you, eggnog. you are a true ally.
