Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

Dont tell me this is reddit 2.0 with all the politics...
You could have just checked the community before embarassing yourself.
God it's weird how we discuss politics in a politics community. Just weird.
Especially in a place far more casually communist than reddit
Aw, is your chosen ideology screwing up the entire world and people are speaking out about it? Boo fucking hoo
I suppose so. I'm just here for the recipes
White Boy Chili
1 lb ground beef
two medium onions
one bell pepper
one 24 oz can tomato sauce
two 12 oz cans petite diced tomatoes
one 30 oz can dark (or light) red kidney beans, risned
one 15 oz can light (or dark) red kidney beans, rinsed
one 15 out can black beans, rinsed
one 15 oz can cannellini beans, rinsed
2 tbs chili powder
1 tbs black pepper
around 2 tbs salt (to taste)
add one bag frozen corn when cooking is complete
The purpose of this recipe seems to be for when you just have way too many beans taking up space in your pantry.
It's a lot of servings, I admit.
Don’t tell me you haven’t figured out how to block communities to curate your feed…
Though seriously, there is no algorithm here, you are responsible to yourself for what you continue to be exposed to.
There certainly is an algorithm, but just like on Reddit, if you don't like it, either don't subscribe to it or use a client that can filter posts.
The real differences are that you can look through the source code to see exactly what the algorithm does, and that each instances' administrator could (theoretically) tweak it to his own liking but is required to disclose those changes because Lemmy is licensed with AGPL 3.0.
The upshot is that there's much less moral hazard/risk of admins quietly subverting it for their own political or economic benefit.
Seeing somebody bitch about politics being discussed in a politics forum is defo on brand though.
No shit. I browse the politics board to get the latest memes and recipes for bread. Though sadly, not both of those combined
Reality has a well-known liberal bias. If you think anywhere else -- whether online or off -- other than alt-right "safe spaces" is going to be any more sympathetic to your delusions than famously enlightened-centrist r/politics was, you're gonna have a bad time.
Well, I mean...conservatism is horseshit. Yeah, I'm gonna be that blunt about it. It benefits only certain social classes and demographics in society, which is what makes it horseshit in a "democracy" that's supposed to leave nobody behind.
